Tried to sell the 8 a few months back with no luck. Now I am about to put it back on the market and just put a low price tag on it just so I can get rid of the damn thing. Looking at a few new rides and I need some unbiased opinions.

(Dont hate me because I am selling the 8. I have my reasons but it has been a great car and I never regretted buying it for a second.)

Anyway here are some of my options so far, feel free to tell me which ones you like, don't like, and suggest some more options if I havent thought of any.

(*Please don't suggest the new STI because I am not driving that ugly piece of crap. )

2008 BMW 135i - The 1-series is the newest addition to the BMW family and the 135i's light body and TT 300 HP inline 6 is a very attractive offer. And I can get it for $37,000 or so because I don't need much if any of BMW's extra options.

2008 EVO X GSR - Everyone knows plenty about the car. Only problem with this one is, to get the best price I have to get it shipped from California. Dealer markup is way too high in South Carolina where the car is so rare. After shipping from Cali this will bring the bill to about $34,000. The only problem I think of with the EVOs is all the horror stories I hear from past owners trying to get warranty work done.

USED 2004 Corvette Z06 - I say 2004 because I noticed while browsing that the price really goes up when you start getting into the C6's in 05. Also I have read the reliability reviews and the 04' Vette has by far the least problems. I figure I can find a certified one from Carmax for anywhere from $30,000 to $35,000.

If I mod any of these at all it will be the basic bolt on stuff, and all of the cars seem pretty moddable.

I am engaged and about to be married but we have no kids and don't plan on any for a while now so 2 or 4 seats won't make much of a difference.

Oh and I guess there is always the option of waiting for next year for the new Camaro, but two things worry me.

1) If it really is affordable like GM claims, I am afraid that everyone and their brother will be driving them around town.

2) If I drive the 8 for another year the way the value is going down, I'm scared it will be an $8K car by next year.

i wouldn't recommand you to buy evo X, since it has so much problem with its new computer and the gear box.
as for the BMW 1 series, it looks great on paper, but this will be it's first production run in north america. After reading and hearing all about the 1st production run, i would say stay away from any car that's in its first production run. some bugs may need to be fixed in the future.

don't have much openion on american car. never driven one and never owned one. HAHAHAAHHA

Those are some hard choices. Personally i would probably take either the z06 or the Evo, I love the 135i. but it just doesn't compete with the other 2.

I think I'd go with the Evo. If you don't mind used perhaps the stripped down Evo RS with the vortex fins on the back. I think it was an '05. By the way, I agree with you on the STi. I just bought my 8 and I was convinced that my next car would be a STi. The '08 is a piece!

Actually stock for stock, I'm pretty sure the 135i will run right with the new EVO X. After modding is a different story I know, but I don't plan on modding much.

i think you should go with the bmw 135i. The car has alot of potential, is very light, and is very powerful. It may be a 1st production year for America but its been out in Europe for awhile. If not then go with the vette, cant go wrong there, or wait for the camaro, though it seems the interior is gonna be way too retro.

Damn this is tough. The truth is these are 3 great rides, all with their advantages. Another thing I want to look at is resale values. Out of these 3 rides, if they were all taken care of, I wonder which one will have the most of their value left in say 5 years. Obviously the Vette will be high on miles by then, but if it is already down in the low $30's I wonder how much lower it will go. EVOs seem to keep their value pretty well. And a BMW is a BMW. I definately think estimated resale value in about 5 years will play a big part in this decision.

Also can't forget BMW's great warranty program. 4 years and you pay for nothing, not even oil changes!

the i135 is ugly. Look at it again from the side. See the happy face?

EVO is ok, unless you mod then no warrenty.

Since the Vette is out and there are reliable statistics pick that, however......

You will have to sell it when you get kids. You can keep the EVO but I'm not sure on BMW. I'm sure its way to small for a baby seat in the back.

I'd personally go with the 1 series. They're pretty tight for what they are. The 'vetts are fairly meh to me, but then again, I grew up around them. I wouldn't even consider the Evo. IMO, it's a bit "boy racer" to me.

Also, I realize that modding to high heaven isn't your goal, but the 1 series has more potential than the evo does in that category.

I would say R32. Sure it doesn't win the magazine racer's race, but in the real world where we live, it's fast enough and easier to live with..

Three great cars. If you need to carry more than one other person regularly--don't get the Vette. You cannot beat the Vette for bang for buck. I think you could get the best deal there cuz there probably are a lot of them around.

Why not get a NEW Base model C6 corvette? They have similar performance as the C5 Z06....and have a perfectly new warrenty. You can get a new C6 base for $42,709.19 with supplier pricing. Mine came out to be about $43,666 since I got Velocity Yellow (Extra cost color) and competition grey rims as options.

i'd go with the 1, but i dont endorse barebone vehicles no matter the manufacturer. some of those bmw extra options include things like better wheels and performance rubber. A base vehicle will only cause lamentation in the future (shoulda got this, shoulda got that, etc..)

Of your listed choices I’d go with the 135i. Personally if 2 seats are an option I’d go that route. You probably won’t have the chance in the future. I wish I had gotten a miata instead of just a coupe a few cars ago. Now it will be a good 15 years before I can go 2-seater unless I want to have two cars.

Some other possible choices you may want to consider:

BMW Z4 (currently offering $7,500 off on 07 models if you can find one or just get a used one).
Porsche Boxster S
350 Z
G37 Not a 2-seater but nice.

I'm gonna have to say the BMW 135. 1st year production problems won't be an issue it's been out for a while in Europe. Performance wise it is right there with the other 2.

I like the Evo but the 1-series will be a better package overall if you figure in overall build quality and the interior would be many classes away from the Evo or the zo6. If AWD and/or 4 doors is not an issue then pass on the Evo unless anything but pure performance doesn't matter to you. The TT i6 (imagine the modification possibilities with this drivetrain) of the BMW would be much more smooth and refined then the other too especially the Evo.

The zo6 I'm sure is a good car but being an '04 model makes it not as good a choice as the brand new cars. I'm sure any little work done on the somewhat specialized engine of the Zo6 would be costly.

I would say in the long run the 1-series will hold it's value a little better, too. It will also be the more rare car after a few years if you are looking for something unique.

I would definitely test drive all of them the same week for a good comparison.

i would rather get a EVO 9 than the EVoX, everyone knows that evo 9 is better in power and handling. and i would choose new STi over evoX because its better handling car and the interior on the new STi is really nice. i don't know if you ever seen it in person yet, but go check it out if you havnt. its much better than you thought. (atleast for me it is)

if you dont want the STi, i would say the 1 series. but don't really know what types of car you looking for, for DD the 1 series will be a duh, but if you want a track car, or weekend driving car i would go for the EVO 9.

I'd wait a bit before getting either a 135i or a EvoX to steer away of potential problems since they're both first year models.

But if you're so inclined to get a first year model, then by all means. If I were to choose between the two...I would choose the 135i, there's just more class to it and with it being lighter than the 335i...it should be pretty quite fast. I don't know how it handles, but I'm sure quite well seeing that its built into BMW's heritage.

However, if you want something from a practical standpoint. I would have to go for the EvoX since it's almost as quick as the 135i and handles as good as if not better than the other two and while the other two have two doors, it has four.

Z06 is a pretty good choice imho, but not something I would get.

All three have great potential, with whatever you choose, congratulations.

mY opinion is...although the EVO is a beast, it just doesn't seem like a car responsible adults drive...but then agin what really is responsibility anyways...

The corvette is a great idea. Getting a Z06 is the kind of thing you do when you are going to keep it forever...so if you are....then maybe I would go with the Z06.

If you want tobe just plain sexy and fast enough for fun...go with the 1 series, and you know....just see where the night takes you! lol
