If you get a used MDX, do some research about the tranny. Pilot is a little less expensive and holds one more person in the 3rd row, for a total of 8 people, but they have to be pretty small kids in the 3rd row. We have a Pilot and it's been a great car for us, but we only have 2 little kids. If you're still using car seats, access to the 3rd row can be somewhat difficult.

The only way I'd get a ToeRag is if it was a diesel; old V10 or new V6. Either one will work.
I'd also have to eat a bullet (told my wife to shoot me if I ever buy another VW product).

Don't buy a Touareg or X3. The Touareg is faulty, and the X3 has never been a real off roader. Instead, you could buy a diesel powered Land Rover, or a Land Cruiser. Murano is also nise, as well as Mazda CX-7 and CX-9.

i have a 04 v8 touareg. 4X4 with auto diff, leather and wood, cold weather package. 50000 miles. needs new front brakes. perfect otherwise. got it for 15k not too long ago.
i really like the touareg. i think it looks better inside than the cayanne. the v8 feels well balanced. strong. gas mileage is low 20s. i think it's the best value in the used suv market.
I wouldn't mind a new Q7 though.

I actually Really love the Touareg. I already feel like a gluten for punishment with the eight why not another own another car with issues like the Tourareg?
OK I was jk a bit. Some people dont seem to have issues with there Tourareg. I am in love with the interior and am excited to drive one.
It is odd how many former high end SUVs I can get in my price range.
