I stopped and looked at some at the the local Lexus dealer last Saturday morning. That car screams "drug dealer" almost as loud as an Escalade.

It's not that bad looking, but I didn't like the way the front end is sculpted. And slush box = no!

It's not really competition for the RX-8. It costs more than twice as much, and is a luxury car with a big engine wanting to be a sports car. Has a nicer steering wheel, though.

Is wayyy out of the 8's league man. Hell, an IS-350 is out of the 8's league both in price and performance. IS-350= $40K, 0-60 5.0 seconds ISF= $60K, 0-60 4.7 seconds. To top it off they are heavy sport sedans, not sports cars. A comparo with AMG's and M's would be more appropriate than with the 8.

My best freind has the IS-350 and i ride in it all the time. Its freakin fast, and dont let the paddle shifting "slushbox" fool you, the sport mode shifts wicked quick. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the 8, but i know when the line is crossed.

More like 70 grand with "options" and "delivery". Nearly 3 times what I paid for my 8. Is it 3 times better than the 8? Dunno - and won't find out unless somebody wants to give me 70 grand to investigate.

This isn't your typical Lexus.. it IS a sports car. They designed this to compete with the new M-3 and it would stomp an 8. But that isn't a fair comparo considering the IS-F cost nearly 3x more then the 8.

as Sniper said, this "slush box" is an 8 speed that shifts in .1 second.

No, the IS and the IS-F are sports sedan. The M3 is a sports coupe, the 4 door variant is also a sports sedan. They may have the power and some of the characteristics of a sports cars, but there not sports cars.

Sports cars are Corvettes,911,300Z, RX-7, Supra, etc.

Ok, it is a sports sedan that will beat some sports cars.

the is-f isn't in the same class as the 8. just on price alone, it's nearly 2x's the price.

this thread = fail.

Exactly. In this type of performance-luxury sedan it's a nice feature. No way I can shift as fast, nor would I want to through 8 gears!!

Exactly! Any sports car that isn't putting out 380HP minumum will get embarressed by the IS-F.

One sports sedan that shames just about 75% of the sports cars out there is the Merc E55 AMG! 516 ft lbs of torque and 468Hp at your right foot is polarizing! My buddy has one, we got into a little cat and mouse chase with a Porsche 996 twin Turbo, let me tell you the driver was not happy that all he saw in his rear view mirror was a silver Mercedes sedan glued to his back bumper. Torque for days in that beast!

The one to watch out for is the new CTS-V with 556HP and 551 TRQ! Good God , its already getting the nick name Super C !!(Caddy)
