Lexus IS-F

Lexus is planning on comming out with a performance like much like that of the M and AMG for BMW and Mercedes respectively. It will called F. IS-F, the nameplate's V8 version of the IS sedan they're hoping will have the power to go head-to-head with the next-generation V8-powered BMW M3.

Those tailpipes crack me up. They remind me of Spinal Tap and the amplitfier that goes to 11. C'mon. How many tail pipes do you really need?

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=118182 spy vid, confirms the quad stacked tail pipes

im pretty excited about it, the 8spd auto trany is very potent, i think it fits perfectly with this car. if they can get the suspension right, and price it couple thousand below the M3, itd be a very tempting car to me.

weird exhaust outlet....

I mean if Lexus has all the money, why not seperate each tailpipe equally, and add some body between... Sorta how the MS 6's body surrounds it's tailpipes...

4 outlets that are equally seperated I think would look alot more aggresive than that awkward stacked tailpipe design...

i dont think i would want a manual version of that car. its not a sports car to begin with, the 7spd auto in the AMG SLK 55 has been praised and well recieved. BMI calls the AMG the benchmark for that segment. though not as good as the F1 style tranny, if its anything like the Benz version, it should be able to post very good numbers.

its not too fun driving a 6mt in bumper to bumper traffic 45 min each way to work :p

I picked up a MS6. Got a great deal on it. The AWD is much liked up here and just love driving it. Got pics in a thread in the lounge "my new ride". My alternate was a MS3 or a GTI.

The North America International Auto Show... the thought has crossed my mind, but I am not sure yet. I hardly even know the area... Maybe if someone else I know is going, I might tag along...

I would definitely purchase one of those. Always loved the way the new IS looks, now it's got some serious power. I think I would get that car before I would get a new M3

They had one of the models at the Washington Auto show. They also had a virtual simulator up. It feels heavy. It has a lot of power though and you can really control it on the limit. It still felt heavy though and I dont think the cornering limits were very high. I wasn't impressed with the braking either. Even though it look like a very sophisticated simulator (there were about 30 switches on the dash to control the driving aids and electronic systems), who knows how accurate it really was.

For such a heavy car this thing is sick fast. Great car for the luxury enthusiast that wants some serious grunt.

From what I am hearing window stickers are more like $10K more than the new M3

ouch that hurts, i doubt people would choose a lexus performance car that is 10k more than a bmw m3. O well, I wonder if the L-FA concept will ever make it to production?

window sticker puts it at the 70k range, the "tailpipes" are just like the other lexus' in that they are just tips that the actual exhaust stops behind, they aren't actually attached. it does have the gtrish fender vents behind the front wheelsand looks good with them. as for the brakes pretty impressive, a nice 6 piston. i've seen it in person and it doesn't sound as good as the new m3. keep in mind bmw is proven performance where as the lexus is not.
