Lancer Evolution MR trade in?
NOT! Jesus, I stopped by the Mitsubishi dealer here in Jersey.... the guys completly jumped on my dick trying to get me to trade in my RX-8... no way.. I sat inside the lancer and thought I was in a civic, it was so .. extremely .. uncomfortable. He offered me lower payments than my RX-8, and kept telling me how much better the evo is.. "better corners, handling" yeah ok.
I don't think im ever letting go of my 8.

What is so uncomfortable about a Civic? I've been in my friends RX-8 plenty of times, and let me tell you, my niece's Civic EX is more comfortable than the Mazda. The bashing on this site of other cars is ridiculous.

When I went to check out the EVO IX, the Sales Gal begged me to trade in my 8. But this was because she wanted to buy it for herself! She spent just about as much time looking at my RX-8 as I did looking at the EVO.
The sales manager was a super hard sell "push push" kind of guy. Completely turned me off. I'll never set foot in that Mitsu dealer again.

Have you guys driven a Evo? Try it. My close friend has one (somewhat lightly moded; Turbo-back, s-AFC, boost controler) Just one pull and you will have no doubts as to who is King of sport compacts.
Handling of the Evo at stock is equal to a suspension modified RX8 (RX8 with sways actually has less body roll). The EVO burns corners on exit. Off the line? No question. I can only keep up once we are going very fast (and I keep the rpms above 6k, minimum) and there are corners. In every other situation, (passing, off the light, in the rain...) his Evo OWNS my RX8.
Would I trade my 8 in for an Evo? No way. I love the RX8. But if I could buy one, I would.

the evo is the craziest car i ever driven, before i got my rx8 one of my choices was the evo 8. reason why i didnt get it its unconfortable as hell, you cant drive it for 1 hour straight, interior is plastic and cheesse, radio sucks, but they dont sell it as a family friendly car, they sell it as a street legal race car, so if you dont care about confortable etc thats the car to get. rx8 has a perfect balance, enough power, confortable, looks good. the only way i get and evo or subaru sti is if i already have another car to drive.

The Lancer and Impreza roots of the Evo and STI can't be missed even when the drivetrain, suspension, and important interior bits are fabulous. The Evo's plastics are ick, and the STI suffers from entry-level Japanese console design. While not hideous (like, say, a Sunfire), they don't fit the needs of a car that costs at least twice of what the base car does; however, that kind of relatively inexpensive performance comes at a cost.
Or, look at it this way, with 300 HP and AWD, why would you want to listen to the radio?

Let me ask you something, did you sit in the drivers seat, or the passanger seat.
Either way, theres no way im trading in this classy sports car, in for a box race car.

i was considering purchasing an evo when i was shopping for the 8. Took one for a test drive (not an MR) and holy christ those things are so fast. SO FAST. I couldn't believe how much power.
However, i was coming from a bmw 540 (e39 chassis) which had a very very nice interior and the lancer's interior was downright econobox. That is the only reason i didn't buy the lancer, well that and my wife said i just didn't look "right" in it. Whatever, for that kind of power at that price i dont care what i looked like inside.... just that interior was soo blah.

keep in mind comfort is a matter of personal preferance... some people aren't comfortable is the cushy seats of a cadillac dts (deville) while others think the seats should be in their living room
as far as the evo/sti go keep in mind they both start out as sub-20k base model economy cars... to keep things fairly cost effective they wouldn't change basics such as carpeting or interior structure... most car companies that have a model with such a broad feature/price range start with the base and add upgrades instead of building the best and taking away for lower trims

EVO is extremly stiff and choppy. After few miles of driving in my friend's evo 8, I always noticed that my RX-8 is so soft compared to hardcore evo 8.
If you are getting one, get a evo 9 instead of evo 8.
9 is much better oveall.

All I added to it was a great stereo and it holds a lot of fond memories for me.
Now, the RX-8 is a completely different car and probable going 'back' to the Civic really wouldn't cut it for me, but the Civic is a fine car - not a comprimise.
Sorry for any thread hijack.

no doubt the evo is better performance-wise. but the 8 is just well rounded. the interior of the 8 looks and feel nicer while the evo just feels cheap. but those recaros in the evo are real nice, i got to sit in one at a car show recently, those things are real comfy. next to the seats, theres really nothing nice about the interior, IMO

I can. It's called inferiority, insecurity, and intimidation. I may not choose an EVO, but I sure as hell respect if for what it is, and what it can do.

if we talk about track performance yeah rwd are better because of the overdriver of the awd, but thats why there is audi... more power to the rear wheels when need it. that would be the only car i would trade my rx8 for a 2005 audi S4 or even better SR4 im sorry but there is nothing better than awd as much as i love my car i never had to worry about snow storms or really f$@# up weather on my Talon, like the guy qwho sold me the car said its a summer car and even winter wheels cant change that fact. that why i gots a WRX for those heavy days.....
