Lamborghini Gallardo Test Drive
Lamborghini Gallardo Test Drive
So I work at a car dealership, and we got a Lamborghini Gallardo traded in last week. It is actually a six speed manual, not an E-Gear like most of them. It looks awesome. It is yellow, has black wheels with a yellow stripe, yellow calipers, and a black interior with yellow stitching. (Pictures below.)
After bugging my boss like everyday this week, we finally went out in it...Wow. I was impressed. I mean I'm a car nut, I read all four of my magazine subscriptions cover to cover, and I was already quite familiar with what the car is, and what it can do. But feeling it is a whole nother dimension.
To clarify my reaction, I'm no stranger to fast cars. Working here (a Porsche Dealership) I've driven pretty much every modern Porsche: Carrera GT (yes you read that right), 993 Turbo, 996 Turbo and GT3, 997 Turbo and GT3, Carrera S, etc., as well as Vipers, Corvette Z06s, E55 AMG, BMW M5 V10, Ferrari F355 6 spd., 360 F1, blah blah blah you get the picture. In short, I'm not a supercar virgin.
That being said, the Gallardo was AWESOME. Yes, it's uncomfortable, cramped (even at 5'9", I didn't have much leg room, though it is better on the driver's side), has poor rear visibility, has a huge turning radius, the brakes we pretty touchy, the clutch was a bear and it was very easy to stall. But man that thing sounds SO good, is SO fast, and looks SO good.
Anyway, figured I would share my experience with my fellow car nuts. Here are some pictures. Enjoy.

Nobody is going to believe this...but he actually traded it in at our Audi store, for an A4 wagon. True story.
No, the Carrera GT is definitely faster (and sounds better, and is more comfortable, etc.).
Actually the gated shifter felt fine. I don't think it would get old at all, the shifts were fairly smooth, and didn't require too much effort. Now the clutch on the other hand, would get old, as it is quite stiff.
Man that sucker is an attention getter though. There were people honking there horns for no apparent reason, people pointing and gawking as we drove by...one guy even rolled down his window at a light and said I looked like Dale Jr. (I have red hair and stubble).

So how many times did you stall it?

nice...you are one lucky guy, getting to drive all those beautiful high end rides. so you work at a porsche dealer?...what do you think of the 944? im looking at one, PM me because i dont want to highjack your thread.
LOL, that's what I was referring to. Richard has all kinds of fabrication machines, I'm sure he could make a shifter similar to that one (so as to not affect the shift gate) BUT that's not as tall.
To the OP... did I mention you SUCK for having been able to drive that very nice list of supercars? I'm jealous.
How heavy was the clutch and the steering in the Gallardo? Insane or livable?
