This Lady Likes her Solstice
Searched for "Solstice" and didn't see this posted so...
This lady LOVES her Pontiac!! https://i140.photobucket.com/albums/...7/P1010385.jpg Why shouldn't she? It's a neat little car. But...She can't drive. So it was me who flipped their Solstice on the Tail of the Dragon. One correction to the reported incident - it was not raining at the time of the wreck - although I did get drenched by a brief thunderstorm as I waited for the wrecker to come and haul away my car. As far as a description of the incident, I was coming up on a left hand curve on the Dragon and took the curve too wide. My right tires went off the pavement into the gravel along the side of the road. Unfortunately, I was unable to get my wheels back onto the road, and the car headed down into a slight ditch and up a sharp incline, which rolled the car over. When the car came to rest, I was conscious and generally uninjured, but my left forearm was pinned between the top of the headrest and the ground. Luckily for me, a fellow Solstice owner was driving along behind me, and several motortcylists also stopped to help out. After a few moments of panic where I tried to dig the dirt out from around my trapped arm, a group of volunteer helpers gathered around to lift the side of the car up enough so that I could pull my arm out. Once I was unstuck, I was able to crawl free through the passenger door, which my rescuers were able to pull open. I am amazingly uninjured, other than a little swelling and tenderness in the arm that was pinned. But no broken bones, head trauma, etc. Hardly even any scratches or bruises. My Baby was sacrificied, but gave its life to keep me safe. These cars are just amazing in how well they are designed to save us from injury. Pictures probably give a better idea of the terrain, so here are a few for those who can handle it... This is how the car ended up: http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...0&postcount=14 |
her weight must have thrown off the balance of the car..hahah

What I don't get is why she thanks HER CAR for keeping her safe. She is safe because of either Dumb Luck OR Divine intervention. Had she NOT flipped into a small ditch area, her head would have been crushed under the car - That A-pillar folded quicker than the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

tail of the dragon is a notoriously dangerous stretch, she probably have no business driving there at her skill level
|
a good reason why I'm not a fan of convertible's...
|
ok i was mean...
but that was still funny. |

LMAO!!! So wrong, yet so funny...
Although it's absolutely correct that she was lucky to escape that wreck mostly uninjured. The car did nothing for her, it was the ditch that saved her. -Steakboy |

I pulled up to a solstice last night at a red light, and I was just checking it out... when the light turned green he floored it, and was looking at me all challengingly... I didn't take off, just went at a normal speed. There was a car in front of him and I passed on the other side doing the speed limit, haha. It did have some get up and go though.

They really need to strengthen that A pillar. |
Ouch.. guess the Twisties pwned her.
I can't believe she credits the car for saving her life, again it was the ditch that did jesh. The way the Apillar is folded down it almost seems like it is retractable that way kinda scary. Kinda curious as to how fast she was doing and how much her weight threw the balance off haha. |
Depending on her height she probably weighs less than Me (235lbs) - and I've never rolled a convertible. :) I did flip a Quad though, with my wife on the back. I tell her HER weight threw off the balance. She gets mad. :D

wait, do those headrests go over the driver's heads?

Everyone makes mistakes. just because she flipped her car doesn't mean she wasn't skilled enough to be driving it. It is possible to be a skilled driver and still take a turn to wide.

I'm surprised she fit.....
|
i wonder if Sky owners or Soltice owners make threads called Sky vs Soltice.
|
Damn Yall, you guys are harsh about her weight

Actually from being a member on the Solstice forum, she comes across as a pretty nice person. I was shocked she wasn't hurt.
