I think you should have traded in for the new EVO, if you were going to go that route.

That is still several months away. I'm guessing he got a little impatient and just wanted something better in nasty winter weather.

If the new Evo is as good as the previews indicate, the first few months they might all have a dealer markup on the sticker too. I hope I'm wrong, but who knows.

That's exactly it. I needed a reliable car for this winter. As far as the Evo X, reports seem to indicate that it won't be quite as "edgy" as the current gen Evo. It'll be somewhat more tame. I went with the STi because it's a blast to drive, it's easier, cheaper, and more relable to mod (than the 8), and from what I've read on the forums, the STi is a solid, reliable car. Apparently, the Evo needs it's tires and clutch replaced more often than normal. Overall, I'm ecstatic about the purchase. I feel like I didn;t sacrifice anything in the handling dept. but gained tremendously in the power, reliability, and even practicality dept. Again, nothing against the 8, it'll always have a special place in my heart, but the STi is just a blast!

The grill change and fenders dramatically improves the stance.

Why? Unless you absolutely can't afford it I can't think of one good reason to not get the WRX instead.
