Just got a twin s2000 for the rx8

I have been tuning my Ford GT LM car, she is track worthy for the Suzuka track now. A little slower in the "S" section than i want her to be, but she is a danm fine machine everywhere else. Won 5 in a row yesterday , and have been pulling lap times in the range of 2:04 to 2:10 minute range.
I need to tune my Amuse GT1 S2000 now, my tuned Elise 111R is a beast on that track, but gets pulled on the straits by the bigger HP cars such as the Viper, Vettes,GT LM cars... standard cars stand no chance against my 111R!
I should be on this evening,750 class Suzuka track! So look for me!

I dont know IMO i think they are both very very close ive raced on the strip and ive won some and lost some against them , both very very similar cars both dyno same torque rx8 dynos more hp at the wheels however the s2k is much lighter , IMO i think its just the drivers who really determines the outcome ( just a thought)

Ok.. just looked it up i was backwards, coming from honda-tech.com
the s2k puts out 190hp at the wheels which ours dynos around 178-185
the s2k puts out 136 lfbs of torque at the wheels the rx8 138 ,
so really not much differance thats gonna be felt , its just a though nothing more but it really depends on the drivers of both cars to determine the out come
i mean an s2k is "slightly quicker , slightly" but nothing to Awe about , both are very very similar. i just think its funny how everyone always compares the 8 to sports cars or roadsters, hell i think the 8 is doing a hell of a job for something with 4 seats and weights as much as it does not to meantion the rotary is less then half the size of its competitors. thats just my thoughts

Higher hp and higher torque and signficantly less curb weight amounts to more than "really not much difference."
.5-1 second in the 1/4 amounts to more than "really not much difference."
I totally agree that the rx8 is an incredibly unique and fun car to own and I wouldn't trade my rx8 for an s2000, period. However, the s2000 is simply a faster car. I don't even like to debate this issue, because I think it distracts from the rx8's real qualities (smoothness, refined driving, function, looks, feel, handling, etc.). All of the reasons the car has been given great reviews from Day One. But to argue that the rx8 is faster is to pick a needless, losing battle.

1935 lbs. FTW!
Nice, just lose the red badges. We love our 00 gpw/red. It has an updated 03 top with rear glass window, 02 leather wrapped center console, 03 clutch, 02 coilovers with revised spring rates. Still running well at 115,000 miles.

To put it in a manner that makes more sense to you. The difference that the S2000 is faster than the RX-8 is about the same that the Elise is faster than the S2000 and that's first hand experience. Conversely, for SCCA autocross Solo 2 classing the Elise is in Super Stock (fastest class), S2000 is in A stock (2nd fastest) and RX-8 is in B stock (3rd fastest stock class). That takes into account acceleration, handling and braking.

i understand completly what ur saying i didnt say the rx8 was faster i said that the s2k is slightly faster and that it was nothing that BLEW the rx8 out of the water and with the numbers u just gave us proves it somthing that is .5sec faster an experianced driver could change that easily. there is a big miss-understanding many are saying the s2k blows it away and that is not the case rx8 running 95mph 1/4 the s2k 100mph not much of a differance felt there unless someones buttdyno is overpowered.
so im not disagreeing with you im just stating that the s2k is nothing to be shocked and awe about its barely quicker then the 8 oh an i apologize for my really crappy grammer and spelling lol.

Wow! With so much whp and so much lighter, I am surprised S2k is not that much faster. And it doesn't even have a full back seat, luxury appointments and hard top. Disappointing really.

Yep, lately I do. I figured I would be on GTA-4 all the time but after I do a mission or two and take Roman for bowling or Kate drinking a few times, I'm ready to get back to GT5-P again lol. As far as GT5-P I've been wearing out the Intermediate 700 Races (where I always see the same racers and even have had some small rivalrys going on) so I will have to step up to the harder classes and look for you guys.

So, we're still waiting on the pictures of the twins together right?
I looked at the S2k, wanted one very bad, but decided against it as I like taking road trips, going camping, going out with a lot of friends, so the 8 is a lot more feasible in my situation, and I can keep up to most people who drive other "faster" cars, since I know the true limits of my car from doing autox and not just doing drags from stop light to stop light.
It's whatever is right for you...and yeahhh, lets get some pics of the twins together eh?
Also, do you think the s2k gets more looks than the 8?

I know I am a new member, but i occasionally visit this forum, as I enjoy reading the posts on here, but EVERY time the s2000 is mentioned on this forum, it always comes down to a debate on which car is the faster car. Some owners saying the rx-8 is faster and others proving with facts the s2000 is. It is ridiculous! I just had to join and voice my own opinion. The rx-8 is a great car because how versatile it is, but the s2000 is a better performing car! That is all.
Also, pics please!
Thank you and have a nice day!

I got rid of my RX8 for an S2K. Indeed not a true upgrade by any means, but I wouldn't call it side stepping, I'd call it a change. Lets put performance aside here, and forget the advantage the S2K has, and lets also put aside the comfort and amenities the RX8 offers that the S2K lacks.
IMO both cars are equally fun to drive in their own way. However, there's one key element that stands out in my mind, and that's when I click two latches, and push down a button. DROP TOP!!!
I love the open road feeling, and if I didn't have that, I'd never feel like I got a more fun car to drive. It's a blast!!!
