Angry Jumped ship

Well folks, after 6 months of ownership I am signing off. I traded my RX-8 for a 350Z tonight.

The RX-8 is a great vehicle. The look is outstanding, but I just had too many things that bugged me about it. Even though I was excited when I first got it, as time went on my satisifaction waned.

As long as everyone will have me, I will still stop in and see how things are going. A big thank you to everyone in the community. I have learned a great deal from everyone and I have enjoyed spending time here.

Thanks again everyone. This is a great community and forum.

Take care!

Congrats! What bugged you enough to make you jump ship? Also, I'd be curious to know your feelings about the Z after 6 months.

If you don't mind telling us, what bugged you about the 8? Anyway, its all good in my book. Enjoy your new ride, I am not a hater of the Z cars like some.

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of trade-in value did you get?

I moved into the RX-8 from a RSX Type-S. I purchased the RSX as soon as they came out and after two years of ownership it had been in the shop only once for a faulty sensor. Unfortunately, my 8 has been a bit more troublesome. It has been in a couple of times for a rattle in the door and once for flooding. I had it flood again after the L flash, although it recovered much better. The breaks squeak. And, it has been a struggle dealing with my local service department. I realize that the 8 is a new model, but having just come out of a new model, I just was not happy with the quality.

I am not condeming the RX-8 as a whole. I just have not had good luck with mine. Who knows, I might end up with just as many issues with the Z, but I just wasn't happy anymore.

The sticker on mine was $32,000 (A/T with Grand Touring and Appearance package). The Nissan dealership is selling it back to the local Mazda dealer that I purchased it from for $25,000 (so they say). I took a hit but I wanted out.

It has been difficult getting a price on it. It is not listed in any books and the only people that would make offers were other Mazda dealerships and auction houses.

Dang, I just replied to your PM, but it looks like you already made your decision. Congrats and welcome. You should know though that no car is perfect, I've personally had the tire feathering problem, however it didn't really bother me that much, so I can live with it. The Z and 8 are both great cars, and I think they complement each other well. Hope you have better luck with this one.

Question

The Z has its share of problems (Check out the forums...), interior quality is very bad and cheap... Drove one from one of our dealerships for a week; did not like it at all...

Good luck...

Congrats on the Z. I think they are both great cars and each has its own problems (from what I've read). I went with the 8 because I liked the look a little bit better, the Z didn't have a sunroof (that was a biggie) and the other big thing was the tire issue with the Z. I hope you have trouble free ownership. I also just switched from an Acura and like you had a very good experience with it. So far, 3 weeks in and 1300 miles and I have 0 problems worth noting. I hope I don't change my mind and want a "Z", I just turned in my old personalized plates that would be perfect on a "Z". :D

Thanks guys. I'm by no means slamming the 8...I just did not have a very good experience with my car and wanted out. I agree that the 8 is an incredible machine and that it looks awesome but the other things just wore on me.

This place seems to have fairly mature people regardless of age. Usually the only time things get heated up is when some Z person jabs the 8. I like the Z but a hard edged 2 seater won't fit a baby seat. I’m part of the demographic the 8 is targeted at.

Then you shouldn't be considering the MT RX-8 either....

Whatever car you drive has got nothing to do with how welcomed you are! My best wishes (don't know why I say that..), have fun, and post pictures. [sentimental] And don't forget about us.. [/sentimental]

A Sports Car should be a pleasure to drive, and to own.

I hope the Z gives you what you are looking for, and deserve.

What color did you go with? I love the bronze.

I purchased the chrome silver. I'll post a picture as soon as the dealership finishes detailing it. It was raining when I took delivery so they wanted to wait a couple of days. Fine by me since they said they would fill the tank back up when I bring it in for my trouble.

If you are happy with the car then good for you. That is all that matters.

Congrats on the car.

If I could i jump at the chance at another FD--one with a new streetported 13B and new turbos-- a Z can kick rocks compared to that--and I like the Z; just no comparison between an FD and a Z.
