You certainly won't have a lack of torque with a Vette. My dad has a '66 427. Enjoy!

All depends... if the exhaust note is stock, no cam lope, no blower whine, not lowered, no aftermarket wheels & tires, no big brake kit, then it's going to be
a) blue-hair golf beanie wearing schmoo
b) a woman
c) gold chain wearing mid life crisis dude

Come across a Vette with a couple of those mods, and you just ran into a mid to late 30's street racing maniac. Always happens to me that way.

Honestly the glass top is nice, but the FRC (fixed roof coupe) is soooo much lighter. If I didn't have a need for back seat, I'd have an FRC Vette.

Have fun with it and let us know what heads/cam combo you come up with... HPE S2 cam is what I may go after... I won't need heads to reach 435rwhp (LS2).

becuase.. along with a light weight of around 3100 pounds, it has a very close 50/50 weight distrabution, low to the ground and can pull higher G's then the rx8..

Certainly seems strange. The 8 is a 4 door "coupe" that's obviously slower and less costly to fix. Getting pwned is all about perspective.

Definitely a step down. Corvettes suck fuel, ride like a brick, usually an ego thing, but like ya said, to each his own. Enjoy

My buddys 04 Z06 got better MPG that my 8! Im not even going to go into acceleration comparisons. I like vettes even being a ford guy, would rather have an 03/04 cobra though. My mom owns a 2004 vette A4, the automatic transmission is stout but I would much rather go M6.

And yep, corvette is going to get better gas mileage. Not that I'm too concerned with gas mileage - but it's a plus!

Congrats Slayer! Weren't you really big on the Pettit SC though? Not that the 8 would of been as good a performer as a C5...but that would of been cool.

Thanks! Yep, I am big on it. The Pettit charger is what I've been saving my money for. But then I realized how much used vettes are. I figured out that instead of buying a supercharger, I could sell my car and buy a corvette. The extra cash I'd have to pay to buy a vette would be half as much (or less) than the cost of the supercharger. Since the Corvette has been my dream car so long, I figured the time to do it is now. I'm 22, and I'm at an age where I can enjoy the car to its fullest.

I found a used one with a Z06 engine, all sorts of good engine mods (heads, my favorite cam, hardened rods, etc), sway bars, Z06 wheels, heads up display, full exhaust, etc etc etc...I really like it. It's pretty much a finished product, and has 415whp. So I'm excited.

Well it's official. I want a vette 10 times more now. Today at the UMD spring meet, one of my new friends was kind enough to let me ride in his C5 Z06. He's putting down 400whp, and it was effing incredible. He let it loose on the highway, and I had to grab the "oh s**t" handle several times. I was just left speechless. The rotary is so smooth, but to feel that V8 throughout the entire car is an amazing feeling. Wow.

Maybe a Vette

I too have been kicking around the idea of getting a Vette. I am going to wait until the new Chevy Camaro and the Dodge Challenger get here. Should be interesting...

Reminds me of my GTO test drive. That's what sold me the car. Bought it the next day.

Yah, there's something interesting that happens right about 400whp... seems like it takes to the next level. Most cars do feel faster when you're in the passenger seat. I know when I ride in my friend's GTO that currently has the same mods as mine, it feels fast - with no steering wheel to hold to, and no way to control what's happening, you notice the acceleration more.

That friend just placed his order for APS TT kit. Bastard. I guess I'll have to buy his Stainless Works catted headers and cam mine. I'm still going to get my *** kicked.

Don't get any funny ideas BOOSTD 7...

And you are right! For me, I have never appreciated the 8 more than when I "switched" cars. I can see the car for what it is, instead of trying to make it do "everything". And it is great at what it does!
I must have missed something, you drive a 350 now?

LMAO I just realized my little transaction will only cost me about $6 per hp gained. Now THERE'S a cost efficient mod.

Going from an AT RX-8 (Pettit dyno shows 130whp stock...believe it) with 152 or so from the engine to a C5 with about 488 from the engine...

It was the other way around for me. I test drove a C5, then went across the street to the Mazda dealership and bought the RX-8. I wanted to like the Corvette, I was prepared to buy one. But the test drive left me totally cold. Don't get me wrong, it is a fast car. But I didn't feel like I was driving a sports car. The car was ponderous and the steering feel severely lacking.

It was fun running through the first three gears on the C5, but I yawned through the rest of the test drive.

Yeah, it needs a full exhaust, a car-shaking cam, and suspension mods to really wake up. Which is what I'm buying.

Corvettes are nice but everybody has one. I see an 8 once every month or two at the most, I see a corvette almost every day.

Don't get me wrong, my favorite of all time would be a 69-71 vette but who wants to deal with the repair bills and maintenance, etc. on something like that along with a ton of them being out there.

I also have no problems hanging with the corvettes at road america on the corners, sometimes they are in the way after only a few k in suspension mods. It's the straights that are the problem.

Not that I would turn down a corvette, but the 8 is more cost effective even with mods, more unique, and I like driving it better.

Vettes are awesome, most likely will be my next purchase. I know you don't want one but C5 Z06s can be had for cheap these days and is probably what I will go for.

And skip the Auto in a Vette or else you become "one of those people"....
