It's almost 20 years since Le Mans 1991 787b win ...

 good old days. and they ban it right after Mazda's win. then they set some "so much for being fair" rules just to give Mazda a hard time. |

Very nice find, I have never seen that before.

What the Porsche/BMW/Audi/Mercedes want in racing organizations, they get. Mustn't have low-class upstarts taking home the trophies. :nono:
Japanese and US must adapt if they want compete.....;) Not fair , but what is fair into motorsport? |
I wonder why whenever I see the 787b on display, they have to blip the throttle like that? Is it because with a low, constant throttle, it will not burn all of the fuel and cause some sort of flooding?
|
it's because it scares the little german drivers to hear that engine.
Intimidation points ftw. |
what a beautiful machine! If and only if Mazda rotaries could get back into the Le mans series again , sigh.....:tear:
|
I wonder what is Charge and Renown. Are they brands of something?

Actually, anything that wasn't a 3.5 V10 was banned. Nissan and Porsche turbos, Jaguar V12s, etc were out.
It was Bernie Eccelstone's grand plan to screw sports car racing and make everyone develop F1 engines so he could fill the F1 grid. By 93 there were less than 10 cars and fewer races in WSC. |

http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-06-19-074.jpg And a Speedhunters article And they had an LMP2 win in 1996 with a 20B Kudzu (I think that's Jim Downing's company) http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-06-16-020.jpg I don't see why they don't at least use a rotary in ALMS. It may not be competitive in power but at least it can finish a race. That MZR engine has had numerous mechanical failures. |

It's funny. That LeMans winning Mazda bears a striking resemblance to one we have at our race shop. :eyetwitch
