Infiniti Skyline?
I like to think I'm pretty well informed about the auto offerings out today, but there's a guy in town that has what appears to be a basic G35 coupe. When you get closer and read the back, it says infiniti SKYLINE on the back and special edition. Does this car really exist or has he just done some home rebadging? FYI, he also has a "supercharged" sticker on the lower right front quarter. Any thoughts?

Stickers mean very little... and debadging is very common. There's no true "Skyline" G35 version released in the US... yet.
Unless you saw him driving from the right side, I doubt it's the "real" Skyline...

I agree - I get C&D, MT, and R&T monthly and have read nothing about this car. It was a pretty impressive knock off if that's the case. Just wondering....

skyline
I wouldn't say it is the same as throwing a "type-r" on a honda. The skyline is the g35 in japan no? so it is more like a nissan 240sx owner with an sr20det in it putting a silvia badge on the back of his car. like a 300zx with a fairlady badge....

It did have a GTR moniker on the upper right side of the decklid, but not the obnoxious spoiler. Who knows? Maybe I should just try to catch him at a redlight and see if its "only" a G35.

It looks like a Skyline, doesn't mean it's the same as the Japan Skyline.. totally different creatures :P

I always thought that the G35 offered in Japan under the name 'Skyline' was essentially the same car as the G35 offered in the NA market. The Skyline GTR's are the bad boys we don't get here.

For some reason, Infiniti overlooked the incredibly powerful name recognition that the Skyline has garnered over here and has decided to label it the G35. I'd be willing to bet that once the GT-R version of the new Skyline is released, we'll see the Skyline namesake surface stateside.

I should have clarified... Yes of course the GTR version... in Japan, the average family drives Skylines. But to most of the people that would ever want a Skyline here in US, they are the GTR versions.
The US Skyline isn't the GTR... :P But the G35 is still a nice ride.. (I own one afterall).

That thing is weak, really really weak. I would have thought they might change the sheet metal a bit more than adding a wing and some holes. I guess the rear is flared a little too.

The GT-Rs never really did diverge too terribly far from their coupe counterparts. Slightly more aggressive body work and a wing is really about the extent of the cosmetic differences, nothing really over the top to distinguish it.

I think the G35 is a very nice looking car but I agree that the rear wing is NASTY as heck. I just wonder about it's performance.
I've seen SC G35's on eBay and I've seen the SC being sold for them making about 100 more HP so the Skyline will probably be fast as heck.

I've seen a G35 modded to look like a skyline. He replaced his infiniti logo in the back with a nissan symbol. Replaced the "I N F I N I T I" with a "S K Y L I N E" and repalced the G35 with a 3.5 symbol. He replaced his front grill with a nissan grill. The one thing he did forget though was his rims were still sporting the infiniti logo.
Not really sure why someone would go thru that much trouble, tho i guess it did make me look.

First off--that Skyline GTR in SCC is not what will go on sale--undoubtedly that is just a test mule for the next skyline. If I had a G35--I wouldn't go through the trouble of changing badges--and yes the G35 factory spoiler is disgusting--I only like the G35s without the tacky spoilers.

Two different creatures... the R32, R33 and R34 GT-R's are the beasts we don't get here... but the cars we have here known commonly as the G35 Coupe is japans version of the Nissan Skyline 350GT... same creatures with subtle differences. It'll be a year or more until they actually release the SKYLINE version of the G coupe here.... roughly lookin at 70k+ at a factory twin turbo charged 3.5liter VQ engine. Personally I'd say save the cash, rebadge and go FI with the G coupe...
