I'm selling my RX8
Relax, relax...not right away, and not because I have had ANY problems with my car (I havn't had one). Fact of the matter is, I will be buying a Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 next year when it comes out, and I cant keep both cars...for the sake of gas prices! Since buying my 8, I have been saving my money for a new Cobra in hopes that it would come with close to, or, 500hp. When Ford announced the car would have at least 450hp...I knew I had to do it.
Its tough, because I'm really attached to this car and the other enthusiasts are really great people, and thats something you cant say of all marques. Overall, I'm really saddened by the fact that no one is producing parts for this car. I know its a rotary, so you cant really compare it to the speed at which aftermarket suppliers got parts out for other new cars, like the 350Z...but c'mon guys, its been long enough and all we have to look forward to are turbo's and blowers...most of which (that have been tested by owners)...arn't the most problem-free ways. On top of that your not making much power out of them for $4k. There are just better ways of making horsepower out there. And I'm speaking of horsepower that handles, too. This is just MY opinion.
Its been great being an 8 owner, and I will always hold it down for the rotary guys...but its time I move on. I wish all of you the best of luck with your cars, and honestly, I really hope you enjoy them in good health for the rest of time. Wow, I'm starting to sound as if I am leaving the boards or something! Nah...I have special duties here and I love all of you guys! :p ...I'll have to wait about another year, maybe less, before I can have my GT500. Just wanted to let you guys know...please dont disown me!! :D

Colorado is a great place to test. Especially in the winter.

How is the steering, clutch, tranny, seating position and brake feel of the new Mustang? I have test driven many past Mustangs, and there were just too many things that easily bugged me enough to forget about the intoxication of straight line speed.
-But I completely understand. Unless you have access to some great low traffic winding roads (---like me---), a car like the RX-8 can seem at odds with its sporting looks.

Lucky SOB. I wish I had the money (and could get on the list) to get a GT500. That looks EXACTLY how the 2005 Mustang GT should look. I'm not a fan of the grill "driving lights" and the loss of the angle on the grill/headlight area from the show car to production. The rear is a bit long and that stock spoiler doesn't do it for me. Almost all these were fixed on the GT500 AND it's got some SERIOUS kick *** horsepower. I'm just wondering how Ford will tune the suspension and how it will actually perform.
BTW, that pic of your 8 in your avatar is pretty hot.

The car is incredible. I'm proud to say it's built within 50 miles of my house in Michigan.
Anyone who assumes Detroit is dead, whether it comes to vehicles in general, or performance vehicles, specifically, may be making a seriously premature prediction.
Here's a great webpage with some real photos of the beast:

I love my RX-8, so please take no offense, but this is the end we'll most likely see:

Damn...a GT500. U are so freakin' lucky, man. That's badass. U will STILL have a unique car, 'cuz you ain't gonna see too many of them, I don't think. I bet you get that employee discount, too, don't you? You're not even twenty yet, and you will already have owned two smoothass cars that many ppl love. Good job sir.
It seems Detroit's come back to life these past couple years, and that's a good thing. It seems now, that domestic automakers are improving their cars, and Japanese makers are producing American-sized trucks now. Toyota finally passed Ford as the number two automaker, so I guess they've finally woken up.

I think they should have gone for a more aggressive look on the front. Right now that car looks like it just wants to give me a hug and be my friend.
