happened to me twice.

first time, yeah, a Civic.

2nd time, a BMW, 3 series I think (wasn't really paying attention)

both yeah revved the engine like they want to blow the pistons out or something. I just turn my music up higher. I mean, we're in the fuxking city, how fast can you go? and whats the point of doing **** like this when there is a light every other f-ing block?

So of course, eventually they left. probably said Im a ***** or whatever, meh. I would rather be safe, to me, my passengers and pedestrians, than being a "1 minute" hero who just gonna crash into a wall/kill someone/get a ticket.

I look at this story like I look at religions.

Even if it's not true, if it prevent ricers that read the story to street race, it's done its job.

Post #76 and 97 in the e90 thread suggest that either A) there are deleted posts from that thread bashing against, and/or B) there was an uproar elsewhere on the web over the story, probably from places like StreetKiaz.com and RiceMyHonda.com.

Awesome on the part of that officer. I know a few that would have handled it the same way.

The thing that stands out in this is that the off duty officer seemed to be givng the guy a chance. That kid might have gotten out of this with no drama but at some point if you are dumb enough to roll up and rev, ride their ***, follow them, repeat the same dumb actions then even have the ***** to engage in insulting someone who doesn't want to be bothered racing you then you might deserve what you get! To be perfectly honest he is lucky he is not the newest winner of the Darwin Award...if this were an unsavory type of character or an easily intimidated person (that happened to own a gun) instead of a police officer he could have been shot especially considering he didn't know anything about the person he rolled up on.

What I like most is that it was some 18 year old bashing someone with a nicer car when he most likely didn't pay for the car he's in.

I can't even fathom where to start. So, in an SUV, 100 MPH feels/looks like 55 in a low car? My god, I've never made even a hint of mistakes like that. Sorry, cop wasn't a dick, you're an idiot.

^I think you might have confused a bit of his statement. I'll admit, going at high speeds in the RX-8 does feel a lot slower than it really is. I've driven at 75 on expressways and thought I was going 40.

Actually no. I've driven at 75 when the traffic around me is going 75 and I thought I was going 40. When I drove at 75 when traffic around me was going 40, I didn't feel slow at all!

agrred got a ticket 3 weeks after getting the 8, 68 in a 50 going downhill,. Had absolutely no idea I was going that fast until I saw a black impala waiting at the bottom of the hill. The road feel difference in this car was so staggering compared to my Explorer before it, that I had been using cruise control everytime I got on the highway to keep myself from accidentally going over 80.

But back to the topic on hand, 350z driver was an idiot, got what was coming to him. Story does seem quite "heroic" and embellished but I have yet to meet a single cop that didn't stroke his own ego when retelling a bust.

threadjack One thing I'd like to state for our cars is how easily and smoothly it pulls from 50mph+ in 3rd gear or 4th. This may or may not be true for a lot of other cars, but it is very deceptive.

I would attribute that much more to causing speeding than anything else. I personally do not feel comfortable speeding, but the lack of the sudden jerk when applying the accelerator in a stock 8 makes me forget sometimes. /end threadjack

Am I willing to believe this story that the guy wrote? Yeah, I am. Every detail? Most of it, sure. And most of the forums that this story has spread to are on the cop's side. The 350z forum isn't entirely against the cop either (the first few posts were pretty much "OWNED" posts).
