WA I need a little help, maby alot.

OK OK so I have a 04 Rx8, and I have been fixing the things that have not aged well, and when I filled up my car, and used half a tank, Ive come to the idea that I am getting about 10 miles a gallon, whoa right?
so what do I do, spark plugs, injectors, air filter..things my friend has told me, but I dont have a shop, or a great understanding of how everything operates, so I need some help, has anyone come across this, and if so what did you do to change things?
thank you

of course other people have come across this. The car has been out for quite a while! But, you need to be more specific. Gas mileage issues could be related to a lot of things.

You should track your mileage over the course of a couple weeks. Once on a half a tank is not enough to give you an accurate reading.

I've noticed that the fuel gauge drops a lot quicker from full to 1/2 full, giving the sense that you're getting really low gas mileage. From the 1/2 way mark to empty the needle seems to drop at a much slower rate. I always calculate my MPG from a full, topped off tank to empty.

Maybe it's just me feeling like the needle drops faster from full but I've noticed it in my Accord as well.

Do not use the gauge to estimate fuel economy. On my tank each 1/4 drops at a faster or slower rate than the others.

Top the tank completely off > drive to empty > top tank completely off
Fuel economy = Total miles driven since fill up / gallons to refill tank

The first thing you need to do to get the best help is post your thread in the correct section. 'General Automotive' is only for topics outside of RX-8.

Try 'RX-8 discussion' perhaps.

Paul.
