^ You just had to do it. I was gonna be a smart *** and translate it manually~~
I've always loved the NSX for some reason, perhaps it's because it's the first 'stereotypical supercar shape' to come from Japan Land.

I think I found my answer.

Guess I'm just not as biased towards Japanese vehicles as many members are on this board, I just like good vehicles despite what logo they wear in the front.

But I can see how people love the NSX for its "Japanese Supercar" appeal.

If I want a supercar, I'd want a Countach over a NSX no matter what. Top Gear had it right when they said a supercar is more than a car, it's a novelty that provide smiles and laughters. Problems are half the novelty to owning a supercar, which is why I don't, that and I'm not rich.

However many of us can't afford a countach....whereas a used NSX is as close to "supercar" as we'll ever get in our lives. Also many like the feeling of "the underdog beating the superior" so to speak. In a way the RX8 is like this, offering $300k handling at $30k price. The NSX offers Ferrari performance (of the time) at a fraction of the price along with every-day livability. I suppose it's far more reliable than the Italians too, with the motor being basically a tuned Accord engine and not some V32 245 Litre 54131453 Valve. There's something about the late 80's early 90's Japanese super sports car that capture me. The FD3S, NSX, 300ZX Z32 TT (heck I own one) especially. I've never really liked the GTRs, to me they're just crazy souped up sedans (though they are far from) and have no class (if a Japanese car can ever have class, that is)

If so, they really like their NSX then, not the best bang for the bucks in my opinion.
At launch the NSX compared favorably to Ferrari's of the time at a much lower price and with excellent reliability. It was more compliant for everyday use and if you think rich people in the market for a super car don't care about that, you're insane. keep in mind there was no other option at the time for a super car that was daily drivable. The NSX changed the way manufacturers made road cars, teaching them that they don't need to build a race car with tail lights and headlights to fit into that market. Sales were lukewarm in the US due mostly to the fact that it was a honda being sold at an upmarket price... performance numbers don't mean much when you don't have the bling factor backing it up.

If I was wealthy, I'd get the supercar that catches my eyes, as I'd have other vehicles for practical purposes.

But if you can only afford one car, and wants a super car, I'd suppose the NSX would be the perfect fit. But if that's the case, probably shouldn't buy a super car in the first place...

Then again, those people probably do exist, hence the economy situation...

You really need to know what NSX is capable of before you conclude your "NSX is not worth its price"

at certain tracks, NSX can outrun certain Ferraris of the time. Even with "just" the 280 hp (Japan street car's upper limit, back then), when the Ferraris had close to sometimes more than double that HP.

Its not selling in the US because USA people cared about "Brand" than "actual" performance.

People sees a "Honda" think its mid-low grade stuff. but when they see "Acura" they think its mid-high end stuff. when its actually coming off the same production line. Hell, some people doesn't even know Acura is actually Honda. thats just how sad us Americans are.

I have a feeling they probably testing some of the next NSX stuff inside this sucker, so they can collect data/to test it out.

Yeah I know they said the next one is not coming out ... yet. right ?

My god! Is it just me or does that thing corner in warp drive? I've never seen a closed wheel car move like that before. Especially the shots straight on through the last three turns.

well it is most likely a varient of the V8 from yesteryears F1 program, so detuning it to say 11K rpm(from 19K) would bring the engine well within a reliable and long lasting state of performance,,,

Didn't they have engine restrictions in jgtc? Like using a production engine from the same car maker as a base? I'm not very familiar with that series so i may be wrong!

I hear this all the time, but where is this track?

And please do not use Best Motoring DVDs for accurate references...

And with that statement, doesn't that imply the NSX handles better than a Ferrari then?

Well this wouldn't surprise me too much if they used the first 348 as a comparison since it was a bad project and actually a bit slower than its predecessor, the 328
I own a 1987 gtb turbo with just 255hp and i also drove a friend's nsx and the cars are, in fact, pretty close in terms of "feeling". I don't know much about their performance figures because we were just hanging around in some country roads. The Ferrari was stiffer and harder to drive (you actually have to take it by its neck to keep it on the road while going fast) while the nsx was very comfortable given the driving position and was easier to "understand".
Dunno if it makes sense though!

In some degree, yes it handles better than Ferrari, it might have something to do with its stock lower hp figure. but hey, faster is faster.

For race results I have to find them, but Im pretty sure I seen them before. Or Alfy, go find it, you know Japanese better

yah i would have to wait till i get home. my work place doesnt allow me to install japanese characters.
So the site that I am looking at, looks all gibberish.

but from experience, the Ferrari gets owned by all the other cars in the 500GT series. but then again, i am not sure how much support they get from ferrari. when it comes to motorsports, ferrari is the team that i dont pay attention to.

hahahah. Oh no, I might have to go thru the horrible, unfortunate experience of working on the engine bay of an italian V12 supercar. Oh the humanity!!!

Dude, a Countach is like the sexiest old school car of all time, or at least one of them. An nsx was a decent value when it came out in 91' or whatever, but by the late 90's, 90 grand for a Honda with basically the same motor as their FWD sports sedan, and performance that wasn't that much better than the then new s2000 for 30 grand, was really a pretty shitty deal. Not good value at all by the 2000's.

If you have a Countach on the other hand, everything is different because you feel privileged in some weird religious way every time even one cylinder fires, so you don't mind the ridiculous maintenance.

The video is awsome and the car just sounds and looks sick. Big fan I really hope Honda puts this into production.

Looks like a FWD grocery getter is the sportiest thing honda will be making into production. Obviously if there was a large enough market for a sports car at the price they can make them and sell them at, then they would do it, but I guess the market is dictating otherwise right now. The s2000 gradually faded from the spotlight over the decade, and I guess they figure it wouldn't be worth it to make another all new sports car. In my opinion this was partly due to the genius decision to water down the AP2, despite the fact that the knife edge, high strung nature was what people loved about the s2000 to begin with. If I wanted a softer, smoother, torquier, quieter sports car, I would just go with an audit tt or a boxster.

Honda: "hey people really love the high redline and sharp handling over the competition. How can we improve on this for the series 2 s2000?

Genius: "Lower the redline, soften the handling, slow the steering ratio, and give it a name that doesn't make sense anymore."

Honda: "OMG you really are a genius!! We will implement your suggestions immediately!!"

You see, it was this same mentality which eventually was strong enough to discourage future plans for something sporty in Honda's lineup. I love the RX8, but really in all honesty, the AP1 s2000 was and probly still is the best all around sports car for the money.

My friend has a AP1 and I am not a huge fan. I was my car for a Daily Driver and weekend track warrior. The S2K just does not offer the interior comfort or options the 8 has. This said i am 6'3" and feel closterfobic in the 2k.

how do you fit an an rx8? I am 6 feet and can barely fit. In the s2000 I can fit easily. The rx8 seat bottoms are too high off the floor. This is weird considering the actual specs indicate the the rx8 has about 3.5 extra inches of headroom over the s2000. (970mm for the 8, and 879mm for the s2000) This would mean my head sticks out the roof of an s2k by 2 inches, yet in fact I have more room than in the 8. I am confused.
