i bought a CX-7 today (pics added)

Today i bought a copper red CX7 (don't worry, i didn't trade in the 8.) Long story short i needed a main car that could handle the winter, make my 45 min work commute easy, and had decent room to store (for example if i buy a tv, luggage for a trip, so forth.)
I original was really liking the new 4 door wrangler's but the interiors are pretty much set up to be hosed out. Its basically made for off road and the prices climb to 30K when you start adding options. But i loved the fact that you can remove the roof and doors for the summer. I also looked at the new compass BUT wasn't really feeling the exterior. My current daily car is my mustang from college (i beat the hell out of this car and honestly it held up just fine)....

v6, stick, needs just about everything cuz it has 150k miles on it. I love that car but it's pointless to have as a winter and daily driver because besides gas mileage it has the same trunk size as the 8, less interior size, and its rear drive (and slow ).
So i bit the bullet and test drove a cx7 and really really like it. its a cheapest model (sport model) and has just the basic's (didn't really care for buying leather, nav, and everything.) Plus the engine is GREAT. I got it for basically msrp plus tax, title, and all that other great stuff.
I'll post pics wednesday cuz i'm not picking up the car til tuesday night. as for the mustang i'm selling it cheap for a cousin who's getting his license very soon.

Plus here's a pic of my baby.....

Don't see a pic. So you got it for MSRP and not invoice? Wow!!! I haven't ever paid MSRP.

Congrats!

Did you get AWD? If you did, you got a very good deal. If you didn't, at least it ended up under MSRP by a few hundred bucks.

Still no pic.

My cousin and his wife just bought a new CX7, they really like and haven't said a bad thing about it yet. Hope you enjoy yours just as much. Congrats. (They went black on black by the way)

they bought a black on black? very nice . I was never really into big suv's, but i didn't want a small sedan, so this was a perfect choice for me personally

Good Choice getting the Cx-7 !! Have you been to www.mycx7.com?
its an alias for msprotege.com.

We ordered our 2 weeks ago. Blm Chry Mica AWD, GT & Tech pkg. We drove the FWD and AWD and the AWD handels better. The wife felt that the rear end slide out if the gas was pressed while going around a corner. So that wasn't a hard sell to get her into the AWD.

we paid fleet(invoice) + ttl. right at 30 grand.
When she get it I get her Saturn and the 8 becomes a project car !!

yeah they had an awd one but price was my main factor. Plus with its ride height and front wheel drive i'll have everything i need to make it to and from work in most snow conditions here in the northeast.

also nice color choice 09factor, you received a good price for such a loaded model. Thanks for the forum address too, i'll join this week.

I was car shopping with my wife last month, I wanted her to get the CX-7 but she wanted the 4dr Wrangler. Test drove both, CX-7 fun, has some zip, nice styling, my kind of daily driver. She opted for the Wrangler, big, bouncy when driving and 30K vs. 25K. Must say that the modular hardtop and soft top will be fun in the summer as is the jeep jamboree events. My only rule was to be able to take it off road. So now I have a track car and a off road car, going to be a busy summer

i had a hard choice with those two as well. I don't offroad or plan to in the near future so i just needed a common road snow tackler, but my nextdoor neighbor just purschased a new silver 4 door wrangler(removeable top and everything.) It looks great and has a strong engine but the interior was to rugged for me (and the price.) What color wrangler did you buy?? plus upload some pics!

We got a black Wrangler, it looks sweet. You are right about the inside, it is plain especially for 30K but my wife says that's what makes it a Wrangler. I'm from NYC and just moved here to the Madison, WI were my wife is from. She loves Wranglers me personally I'm more the luxury type. When I had the recall done last week I had a CX-7 all day really nice ride. I guess the Wrangler will be fun in the summer. By the way gas mileage is worse than my 8 I'll upload pics this weekend.

plus side of the interior is if you get it really dirty you can just hose it out

Also you'll probably encounter more snow days in madison than NYC so a 4wd truck is a great choice. did you test drive anything but those two? i tried the new jeep compass but wasn't impressed and i considered the honda ridgeline but never bothered test driving it because it was alot more that i needed from a vehicle.

We test drove those two and the MS 6, but we decided we already had one sports car no need for a second one(not that the MS 6 is a sports car) she had her mind set on the Wrangler anyway. On those really bad snow days you can bet that she will be taking me to work
