The return of the torana, a competitor to the rx8?

A recent Holden concept was unveiled in the Sydney Motor show. The car sits on a modified kappa platform and was given a twin turbo (very very lightly tuned) 3.6 V6. It has been hailed by Bob Lutz as a BMW competitorAnyways heres some of the cars specs.

Holden Tomorrow will be showing there new Torana Concept Car

The Car will be called Torana TT36

TT36 stands for Twin Turbo 3.6l

It will be a 4 door Hatchback

3.6 litre v6 twin turbo 280kw Alloytec was hand built at Holden engine plant in Port Melbourne

Dont expect the interior and colour (pink) to go into production.

I do not think the torana purist will be happy with this car. None of the rugged manly charm of the old GTR XU1s.

Anyway, if they ship it to the U.K, they will put a Vauxhall badge on it.

Why wouldn't it?

The new Alloytec V6 generates 190kw and 340Nm, so will two turbos not add the extra 90kw and 140Nm?

Yup. Holden is a subsidiary of GM. They sell the awesome HSV, which should've been the new Pontiac GTO.

I'm curious about the Ford Falcon in Australia. the upper-echelon models are a twin-turbo straight-six and a big, honkin' V8. That's freakin' nuts! Too bad those cars are, what, pushing 4000 lbs?

Actually, the XR6 Turbo is a 4L STRAIGHT 6 with a SINGLE turbo for 240kW and the XR8 is a 5.4L V8 with 260kw.

There's also the FPV models (like AMG Merc, Mugen Honda, etc) where the XR6 becomes the F6 (270kw) and the XR8 becomes the GT/GTP (290kw).

Check them out here:

That's 320hp for the six.....the 5.4 GT V8 has 388hp and 384ft/lbs. Both now with 6spd box's. Yeah, nearly 4000lbs for the GT.

Gomez.
