Help pick a new car for my friend...
Hey,
My friend is getting a new car soon and being as he's only 17 and isn't paying for all of it his parents have set some constraints.
First off hes looking for something thats sporty - no SUVs or trucks or anything like that. His Budget is 8k and because of where he lives it has to be front wheel drive or allwheel drive, and he cant get an acura or a lexus because insurance is too high.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

$8K is not enough to buy a new car. For a teenager requiring a reliable, safe, economy car with low insurance costs, I would look for a 4-door Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla in good condition, as either of those cars are very dependable. Look on www.kellybluebook.com to estimate how many miles the car would have to have to fall into his budget. Since a bottom-of-the-barrel new car already runs around $16K, the spread is at least $8K- keeping in mind that even for a used car sale via private party the buyer still has to pay sales tax when they register the license at the dmv.

Look for a mid 90 's and up acura integra. Fun car, front wheel drive, real sporty, and pretty reliable. The aftermarket for it is pretty good also.
