help, my 8 has no horsepower
help, my 8 has no horsepower
I've looked around on here and I dont see any post where anyone else has had my same problem... The problem is that when I start my car and let it warm up, I take off and it runs fine, but after I've been driving for about twenty or thirty minutes (on the highway) it suddenly seems to have no horsepower... I'll be in 6th gear going up a slight hill, flooring it, and the car can't keep up, it'll go from 80 mph to 72 or so before I get to the top of the hill, While still going up the hill if I shift down in to 5th it still wont really gain speed, it'll take a good 3 or 4 seconds to go from 72 to 73, If I shift down into 4th it'll finally start to climb, but it'll climb the way it should in 6th... and its not just the highway speeds ordeal, after it starts running like that if I get off the highway and drive around the city its the same thing, I'll take off from a stop light in 1st and it'll accelerate like im in 3rd... The only way to get it back to normal is to park it for a while and let it cool down... By the way its a 2004 manual transmittion... anyone else here ever had that problem?
ok nevermind, I found some other post where some people were having the same problem I'm having, looks like I'll be replacing the coils and wires, and doing an engine flush with seafoam, and possibly getting rid of the cat with the new exhaust system i've been wanting anyway, thanks anyway, autozone seems to have the cheapest coils at $33.99 a piece but they're duralast brand... anybody know if thats a good brand or not???
Cheap and good do not usually go together. If you have the extra money get the BHR upgraded coils, you wont ever have to replace your coils again. http://blackhaloracing.com/products-...gine/ignition/ Read it yourself, but you get the coils and wires.
If you want to be cheap about it, http://www.mazmart.com/ItemDetail.aspx?id=609 theres a set of OEM coils for $185 which is barely more than autozone and even though they will fail they should be better than duralast.
