I used to own an S2000 and loved their headlights. I like the way the Rx-8 headlights are (I'm a sucker for projector style xenons). Has anyone compared them? COnsidereing they are both projectors and xenon......

The S2k has an AMAZING looking HID headlight at night, coming down a dark road i nearly wet my pants when i see them..soo nice. Im not sure the *K of the bulbs, I know ours in the RX8 are 4300*K, I belive the S2k is a little hotter, maby 5*K or 6*K not sure.

A lot of the rainbow effect and the brightness has to do with the optics and how its focused.

Have you ever seen the RX8 with HIDs coming down the road at night, its very nice...pretty damn close to the S2k.

Yup. Thats why I'm trying to compare them. My buddy has one and whenever he's coming down the road, it looks so cool...especially with the fogs on. I just never had the chance to do a side by side comparison.

try having him drive your car down the same road. The RX8 HIDs are some of the best looking on the market as far as stock systems go.

They will look a little differnt as the nose of the S2k is lower than the RX8, so the angle the light hits your eyes is a bit differnt. They should be pretty close but the S2ks look 'more blue' to me.

I will say S2000's headlights are hands down better looking. It's definitely brighter. And does anyone else notice the range of color on the edges? Beautiful. I think Honda uses the same projector and HID on the TL. I'm not sure though.

Even though the HID on the S2K is better, the "styling" of our headlights look better than both AP1 and AP2s. Plus, we don't have to pay big $ to clear our corner lights. Just swap the stock for stealth bulbs and we get a clean look. S2K owners have to completely swap in a new set for clear diffusers or bake it and take it apart themselves.

I sold my RX8 and bought an S2000. I have to agree with everything you said. Even my parents noticed the difference when I got the car.

Better in what way? Illuminating the road, life of bulb, visibility in fog, styling when off, they whay they look when on, the blinding on coming traffic factor, chance of actually working when you turn the switch?

I would put my money on the 8's lights in a drunken bar room brawl.

i like the s2k cutoff and optical appearance more. the mazda cutoff is annoying.. the have a very strong z pattern. it sucks. as far as functionality i thing the mazda's look better. especially the highbeams.

FWIW it's the same lightbulb in the mazda.. it's just a diffrent lense/prism/crystal ball. BMW has an odd cut and it makes thier lights look bluer.
