thats what i'm saying!! The flag ship car for mazda is the rx's... lets write up hate mail for these people. But i can understand why they choose the miata... the loss of the rx7 and the long wait for the rx8 would make the miata a right choice. Most non tuners would answer miata if they where asked the question "which car represents mazda?"

WOW! i'm sorry dominion, let me rephrase that, "most" average, non car loving, non car enthusiest people would say Miata. is that better? and let me mention "MOST"!

 

until I got interested in the RX-8, I never knew about the RX-7. Or any rotary car for that matter.

 

I bet a lot of people went through that. Most average 8 drivers that are not on this forum still don't know that the rx7 existed.

 

Hmm. The Miata isn't technically a halo car, more like a flagship car, because it sells. Halo cars aren't supposed to sell that well.

Why?

IMO, a Halo is supposed to be an icon, something that represents just how good a car company can be. If that's the case, I would argue the Miata is a great halo car. And if a Halo is the best a car company can offer, regardless of price of the car, than I'd hope they can at least meet their sales expectations.

It is hardly a flagship car, that would be the Mazda 6 or the Mazda 3.

 

That makes the RX-8 a halo car then (at least according to the current sales figures).
