numerous top nissan officials including carlos ghosn said that GT-R is aimed at the newest 911 turbo. hp, torque, weight will be almost identical. top gear's 911 turbo. well see what happens.
911 twin turbo despite weighing 3500lbs seems to be able pretty competitive vs the likes of Z06 and F430

Or treat it like its a brand new car all together name and all.

Get it into some kind of "Fast and Furious" type movie that puts the spotlight on the car. Follow this up with commercials on the past GT-R's, their peformance value and that it is now finally available in America.

Transporter 3 -:drools:- can you imagine the car in that kinda movie! I know the past two had him driving lux/sport cars but still if Nissan pulled some strings and laid down some $$$ it could happen. I dont watch much Tv now 'sides Law & Order and Prison Break on the national broadcast stations (cable is another story) and I dont see either show having any one of their characters driving that car around. I seen a R34 commercial and it was treated very nicely.

That's going to be nice, so expensive though, I'm not sure if people will pay that much, even though it might out perform, thats around Porsche (Carrera/Cayman S) money. I can't wait to see one, I'd expect them to use the G37 engine in the N/A model, or maybe a larger version (3.8). I think the G37 is the test vehicle for that powertrain (3.7l), I imagine it will go into the 350Z, when they redesign it. I'd imagine in a few years the 350Z will stand for 350HP. Nissan is the only company doing anything to better the performance of the cars. I don't care about american car makers so I wouldn't know what they are trying to do, maybe develop DOHC technology haha, in all seriousness, I'm sure they are working with variable valve timing by now, although the Viper will be a 10 liter still using push rods before we know it.

What are you talking about? There will be no N/A model and there is no test vehicle for the powertrain. The test vehicle is a GT-R and it has been that way for a long time.

I've read that there will be two versions. A base model and a Spec Something which will bare the twin turbo set-up, suspension, and brake upgrades. Suppose to make 450hp in the TT set up and probably 340 in the N/A. Just what I've read. Nissan has a good history of using engines in certain cars before putting them in others. The V6 Altima, Maxima, and 350Z share the same engine (tweaked differently) the 4 cylinder Altima now uses the engine which was out of the 04-06 Sentra Spec V. It would be to no suprise if the 09 350Z has a 3.7l in it. My theory is they will make 350hp so they don't have to call it a 370Z hahah.

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THEY ARE ALL, all wheel drive and they all have twin turbos. there is a base and a GT version if you want to call it that and then a track style verison which is basically the same as the GT plus some new upgrades including a 200 or so pound weight loss.

Yeah I read it, nothing too suprising, I've been reading the same through out the magazines, I just can't wait to see one, the car looks sooo sweet. I'm guessing they won't release it until it out performs the 911 Turbo on all levels.

Ebay isn't the only way to sell a car. A lot of people buy cars from private parties. If someone has one and wants to sell it, and the buyer can't find any at a dealership then the seller could make a good amount of profit.

Good luck getting that to fly - legally - in a capitalistic society.

I worked at Ford for a while and all Shelby's went for 15k over sticker minimum (including the Shelby-GT) and the GT500 usually went for 30k over sticker.

Additionally, the KR went for 50k over sticker and the SS has been expected to be even more

So yah, there are people stupid enough to pay well over sticker

HA! I went with to the dealership when the new Mustang GT came two years ago and that was jacked up to 50K. 20K over the msrp.

I imagine 530 is possible with intake and exhaust. for the 480hp models

The engine will definitely handle much much more. Use 530 as baseline, up the boost and 600hp is easy and the driveline will be able to handle a 10% increase in power for sure.

I just hope it doesnt weight 1700kg+.....
