ok so i was talking to my friend and he said that by modding a cars governators/ whatever will not just only no longer limit the top speed but would also change how fast your car got there. is it true?

.....? not really i don' t know where you got that. i'm tlakign about the limit our car is put at speed wise i believe it's at 143mph. i was talking to my friend who said his car had been reprogramed and it could get to higher speeds faster just by modding the chip ( whatever it's called) in the car to make it achieve higher speeds faster. i said he was full of it. i was just checking on here to see if there was any truth behind his statement

He's talking about modding the ECU, which is not the "speed governor." RX8's don't have a speed governor. They can go as fast as 6th gear will rev, which I believe is somewhere in the 180mph neighborhood. The problem is that aerodynamic drag makes them run out of steam around 150. There are guys that have done dyno pulls to well over that though.
