Well, why don't you think about it for a second, think about what the governor is and how it's implemented, then tell us whether you think it's true or not.

.....? not really i don' t know where you got that. i'm tlakign about the limit our car is put at speed wise i believe it's at 143mph. i was talking to my friend who said his car had been reprogramed and it could get to higher speeds faster just by modding the chip ( whatever it's called) in the car to make it achieve higher speeds faster. i said he was full of it. i was just checking on here to see if there was any truth behind his statement

but if your not gonna answer my question, then whatever

He's talking about modding the ECU, which is not the "speed governor." RX8's don't have a speed governor. They can go as fast as 6th gear will rev, which I believe is somewhere in the 180mph neighborhood. The problem is that aerodynamic drag makes them run out of steam around 150. There are guys that have done dyno pulls to well over that though.

^ Well, the thread title and you're post seem like enough reason to flame you a little. C'mon, just admit it.

Now that you've got your answer, I will say I am thoroughly disappointed in this thread. I was so sure this was going to be either a parody thread about Da Governator, or a political rambling of some sort.
