Just bought my wife an 05 Corolla XRS. A very nice upgrade in engine for the Corolla. 6 speed manual, very surprising power and a hell of alot of fun to drive. Best thing, financed that sucker for 13,100. after I traded in my beast F150 gas hog. Only owed 7 on it so I made out very well. Sticker was 19,600. This car is loaded, 6 cd in dash, body kit, spoiler, moonroof. Very nice second car or first car for that matter...
I was using my rx8 as summer car, and had my old 95 Vw golf with 220k miles as my second commuter car. I went to dealership looking to trade in my golf for a new Golf TDI. I then went to Subaru dealer looking at a possible Impreza RS, or possibly a Legacy, and I suddenly found myself trading in the Golf for an STI. Now I have that as my commuter car, and will be slapping a set of all seasons on it for daily use year round, and rx8 will be my fun summer car. I admit I spent way too much money for a daily commuter car, but in the long run it's so worth it. Subaru makes a great second cars, and if you can afford it, it's a smart choice. The Legacy GT is basically a detuned STI engine wise, and has a boatload of power. I'm gonna be putting a serious amount of miles on STI, so we'll see how well it holds up as a daily commuter car.
If you're looking for a car with cheap thrills, for really cheap, try to find a B13 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I've seen this little car best some of the top FWD track cars, like the Integra Type R. Let's hope scorp76 isn't reading this.
