g35 vs rx8 in luxury!
are there anything that the rx-8 has over the g35 in the luxury department? such as lbook reading lights in the rear seats or windows rolling up and down through the key fob? just the little things that you really don't need but you may use every once in awhile?

Yeah, I was not impressed with the G35 interior at all. I thought since it was supposed to be the upscale cousin to the Nissan it would have premium materials, but the leather is thin, the plastic is just one grade higher than the Nissan (and that is not a complement), & the seat controls are located in the wrong place. Not to mention the shifter is floppy, and the responsiveness is not there. It came in as my #2 car, but even then I was really disappointed with the interior of the car.

I wished the passenger seat was height adjustable. A few shortish passengers (girls) have complained that they sit too low in the seat and can't get fully comfortable.

I have the exact opposite problem.
Im 5'11" and my head hits the ceiling when I am driving my 8 if I sit strait up.
But on luxury... G35 may be an Infinity but its interior isnt that great.

RX8 HA HA
not to sure about the manual tranny but the auto's ebrake is not your conventional pull up handle, it has one of those SUV push with your foot pedal ebrakes. =(

The manuals is a pull up handle. I really hate the back, my brother has one and I have to slouch when hes driving if I'm in the back otherwise my head hits the glass every time. Other then that it's nice on the inside.

Personally I think the rx8 has a much nicer interior than the g35. It looks cooler without a doubt, and seems to be made of higher quality materials. Of course I'm referring to the GT package with red and black leather, I dunno if the cloth seats match up or not...

Hey,
I liked the electronic steering wheel adjustment on the G35 (test drove the coupe).
That was classy. The G35 also seemed to block out noise better that the RX8 (quite noticable on the highway)
That being said, the RX-8 is SOOOO much more fun to drive, less $$$, and even w/ 296 horses, the G35 didn't feel any faster. No comparison on the handling. Man the RX is responsive!
P.S. The rear seats on the G35 coupe are USELESS... I'm 5 8" and wouldn't last more than 2km in th back...
just my 2 cents
P.S. I did like the alternate climate control for driver and passenger, that was pretty kool!

No, the manual doesn't have a foot brake. It has a hand brake. What's this about everybody ******* (ahem comparing) the g35 coupe? My brother has one and it's damn nice. It's almost like comparing apples and oranges, they're different cars believe it or not. The interior is fine, it has plush leather seats, with THICK leather skin (not the scuba gear leather that we have). The shifter is precise, even though the **** is made way too big. The speed is actually faster then the rx-8 and his Brembos brakes better then the rx-8 (at least they feel better). For some reason, the g35 has like 4 cup holders for the front seat, two in the center and two near the door handle. I know that we have four doors, but the g35 has a lever that when press the seat automatically tilts and slides foward for the rear passanger to enter and leave. The stereo system is alot better on the g35 then the rx-8. However, the rear does have a short roof line, and if you're any taller then 5' 7", you're head is going to hit the ceiling. The trunk is of course bigger, not as deep, but does have a full size spare, and if that was removed, it would be twice as much as the rx-8. Did the g35 forum have a lot of topics talking smack about the rx-8 or something, cause I see no point in retaliating about a car that pretty much is in a DIFFERENT (not BETTER) class then us. Don't get me wrong, I love my rx-8, but I don't hate the G35 on any level. I love the way the rx-8 looks, feel, everything that was painted silver that was plastic that scratches everytime I touch it, the road noise, the spare tire that takes up all the room in the trunk, the cheesy tire repair kit that everybody laughs at, the window rattle, and lastly my rusted rotors. And that why I love my car and everything that came with it, luxury or not. I'm pretty sure that there is no way that the rx-8 can compare to the g35, and that's not what it's built for. I know the rx-8 have a touring package for luxury, and the g35 have a sports package for performance but even comparing both of these, the rx-8 is going to lose because of the comfort and the noise the rx-8 produces because it's a rotary. BTW: that clock, there's something called class look into it.

I haven't spent as much time in the G-35, but I thought it was a nice car. I can compare the RX-8 to the Z and I think they are very close. I think the leather seats in the Z are great--extremely comfortable. No doubt the Z has a LOT more power. The VQ really kicks you in the *** when you get on it. Needless to say the RX-8 is a lot more elegant, rides better, has cooler technology, and is easier to drive at the limit. The Z is a damn fine automobile though and I think people on this board could give it a little more respect.

i do give respect to the G and the Z and i believe most members on this board do as well especially in the performance area. i meant this thread to compare more of its interior amenities but apparently it went a little out of hand back into the performance department. i do agree the G was meant to have more "class" in its interior but i don't think comparing the two is exactly apples and oranges. they're both relatively in the same price range and aimed somewhat toward the same crowd. i came to this question when i read a thread on the g35 forum that they can have different settings in their key fob and how they can open or close their windows with it. i also rode on my friend's scion tc recently and i was comparing it to my car (02 rsx type s). where the tc lacks in performance, it makes it up with interior amenities such as a mp3 player, adjustable rear back seats (quite roomy back there might i say), outside temperature guage (believe it or not the rsx does not have), with such a low price. i do believe the tc is aimed at of course a younger age group but i also feel myself growing out of my own car. it'd be nice to drive my rsx as a daily driver and the 8 for the weekend but for now its just a distant dream for me.

I don't know about the Bose system in the G35, but I was kinda disappointed with the one in my 8. It's going to get redone at some point.

It's not your dad's car it's your grampa's car. The interior was awful, the front seats were awful, the g35MT is ugly without the spoiler. The suspension was sloppy feeling...
It was my #2 car, However I probably would not have bought a car if I didn't find an 8.
