Franz Von Holhausen left Mazda

Hopefully I spelled that right. He's the guy that led the design team for Kabura as well as the Furai. I'm not sure where he went to or why he left. I just know he did this week.

robrecht 07-31-2008 07:36 PM

Interesting. He's also the guy that designed the Solstice at Pontiac before he came to Mazda.

Easy_E1 07-31-2008 07:38 PM

Well now isn't that interesting. I wonder whats going to happen to the design team now. And what the future designs of Mazda will look like.

Pretty close: Franz von Holzhausen

paulmasoner 07-31-2008 07:55 PM

:(

i liked the route things were going

Ever Hernandez 08-01-2008 12:34 PM

^Yeah, hope things get better before they get worse...(crossing fingers)

alfy28 08-01-2008 12:40 PM

as long they dotn loose the person who designed the Rx8 then im ok.

neXib 08-01-2008 01:38 PM

That's bad news imo, but Mazda are small, he probably went to bigger things.

He||hammer 08-01-2008 01:59 PM

Probably went somewhere he was actually appreciated.

SayNoToPistons 08-02-2008 01:53 PM

Someone probably paid him more than Mazda.

Rhawb 08-02-2008 02:18 PM

I hope he just hopped over to Ford. Kind of a mercy-trade thing. Maybe then, their cars will start looking as good as (or better than!) their European counterparts.

Jedi54 08-02-2008 02:36 PM

oh, that sucks to hear. I really liked the design and where things were going.
It's true what they say though' everyone has a price.

lesper4 08-02-2008 06:44 PM

i think this could be bad for mazda and their whole design concept. at least the next set of cars that come out will have that influence but after that i am not sure.

fahrfegneugen 08-02-2008 06:55 PM

first Felix Wankel and now Herr Holhausen

Scheiß darauf!

j9fd3s 08-02-2008 06:56 PM

yeah his cars looked great in person.

he was at sevenstock last year, euro dude in tight jeans... he seemed nice but very schprockets

fahrfegneugen 08-02-2008 06:58 PM

 meh he did one car that looked good. Big deal. What this has to do with other cars beats the hell out of me. Should have been posted in the OT section.

If Mazda lets Ford screw with them, the future of their car designs will be ugly look Ford Taurus look alikes.

Mazmart 08-04-2008 12:22 PM

They still have Wu Huang Chin, the main designer of the FD RX7. I've seen him walking around the R&D building.

Paul.

Could be worse, we can have an guy from India sending design specs to a bunch of surfer dudes at California and have a car cobbered together in Japan using parts from a Minivan, family sedan and SUVs. (hint: what car has 3 numerals and end with a Z?)

dynamho 08-04-2008 01:12 PM

Van Der Ackers is still design lead at Mazda no? Von Holzhausen is a loss though.

BTW, Von Holzhausen is from Connecticut, born and raised. He's not Euro.

rotarygod 08-04-2008 04:29 PM

He went to Tesla!

They need him. The Tesla Roadster styling is quite bland IMO.
