Ford GT vs. Corvette C6 Z06

I like neither of them to be honest.
And the video description is wrong. The Saleen S7 Twin Turbo and the Mosler MT900s are the fastest American supercars. And they are worlds better than the ZO6 or the GT.

That's a strange comparison.
They're comparing a 505 horspepower (65-80k) sportscar to a 550 horsepower 150-225k supercar and they're only comparing them in straight line performance.. with 2 different drivers..
The Z06 is 200lbs lighter than the GT so 45 horsies may or may not make a big difference...
But seriously, both of those cars were designed to HANDLE, not just go straight. I'd love to see their lap times around a track compared.
The Z06 is, hands down, the best bang for the buck when it comes to power per dollar, but I must say, if money was no object, I'd take the GT everytime, just because there's no car quite like it on the road. Vettes are all over, but the GT is closer to a ferrari in that, you wont see too many of them and you definitely will look twice.

GT all the way. Even if the perfomance is similar( this is a crappy way of showing it but still a cool vid) the coolness factor on the GT is way higher. I dont care if you have corvette. I see those everyday. It may have 500hp but its still just a corvette. Kinda like a civic with 500hp, it may be fast but at the end of the day you still have a civic. Same thing here, at the end of the day its still a corvette and those are everywhere.

GT is a cool looking car no doubt but its plagued with reliability issues. Jeremy Clarkson's car is a good example.
If I had the money for a GT, I'd rather get a 911 GT3. Superb build quality, superior german engineering, gets amazing gas mileage, and you can drive it easily every day.

OT - I'd take the GT over the boring-*** Z06 any day.

Makes for a cool video but that's sorta like comparing apples and oranges IMHO. The new Zo6 was supposed to knock off the Viper (and it did) with classic V8 power, front egine, RWD. On the other hand the GT40 was designed trade blows with Ferraris and Lambos with its mid engine design and exotic character.

If you get bored with "only" 550 horsepower in your GT, you could always do this:

Also, the GT got the worst MPG of any car that Top Gear tested that year. During Top Gear's supercar trio test Clarkson was filling his GT up numerous times over the F430 and the Zonda even. It just shows how much more refined the other two cars are.

^^^Escape Hybrid? Focus?
Anyways, all I'm saying is that there are more powerful and faster cars out there that make better gas mileage than the Ford. So the GT is obviously very unrefined.

Saw a GT. A dream car as far as I am concerned. After it came out I started looking around and found, around here, in Westfield Indiana, a company (don't remember the name) that produces an original sized GT replica that is better than the original and comes with whatever engine size the customer wants to put in. I went up and looked at one they were building and believe me, any of you would like the build quality. I remember the original and loved it when I was young. This companies designer of the car is the son of the original designer. Anyway, never liked vettes, dime a dozen. Can't afford the Ford GT replica or the one in Westfield, 100 to 120K I think. Can afford an RX-8 and, even though not as rare as the GT, I rarely see one on the road and I like that.

Gas mileage
Yeah, if you can afford a GT, you can afford the gas. I once had a 70 Cadillac Deville convertible that got something like 5 mpg, 498 cubes. Beautiful car, called it my Sunday driver. Once had a 65 or so 442 convertible and got 11 mpg. Had a Buick Wildcat and got, gee, I don't even remember but gas was cheap then. We concentrate on gas mileage nowadays due to price but if you can't afford the gas, get a Jetta Diesel stick, which I once had in 01, and got 50mpg on the highway and 600 miles on a tank. In other words, buy something else.

Secondly, the GT does not get bad mileage. It actually gets pretty good mileage for the type of car that it is, better than either the F430 or the Zonda. It's "problem" is that it's fuel tank is significantly smaller than what is usually found on "refined" exotics. Grand Touring cars like the F430 can hold 25-35 gallons (the F430 holds 25). More race-oriented vehicles hold closer to 20 (like the Zonda). But the GT only holds 17.
