Ford Edge / Mazda CX-7

Anyone stopped by a Ford dealer lately? Seen the new Ford Edge? Same car as the CX-7, But the Ford gets the V6 instead of a turbo 4cyl Mazda has.
I want to hear what differences people have noticed in the two cars. Seems the CX-7 is a fun vehicle. I have read several good reviews of them. So what do people think about the new Ford?

edge and cx-7 do not share a platform. edge is on the stretched mazda6 platform like the cx-9

the cx-7 is on a wholly Mazda platform which is the front half of the Mazda3 and the back half of the mazda6. the front is incapable of fitting the v6

So the 'edge' is the CX9 not the CX7? Our Toyota rep was talking about it yesterday, Comparing it to our vehicles. So Ford came to the market with the 'edge' before Mazda releases the CX9?
Who do you think will sell more? Ford or Mazda?

mazda cx-9 has a third row which the edge does not offer. for that reason alone my wife and i would choose the cx-9 over the edge. the edge will sell more though because ford will build 3x as many. all 3- cx-7,cx-9,edge- are excellent choices in their class. that new v-6 is strong.

Agreed. Electroluminescent lighting should be standard. Once you've had it everything else seems ultra dim.

we have a few here in annadale and as far as i can tell it's not too bad.they might sell more than mazda only because quite a few went to enterprise rent a car long before stock one's were avalible.(still love my 8 better)

The Edge is a handsome vehicle that should sell well for Ford. It really represents the direction they need to take.

I picked up the same brochure today. Pretty nice. CX9 looks much better in real life than on paper though. There were two in the parking lot at Mazda Headquarters when we were out there. Did you spot them Charlie?

The CX-9 looks somewhat like the Cayenne.

The Edge and it's upscale twin the Lincoln MKX don't offer some of the features most have grown to love (or at least would like to have), i.e. HID's, Reverse Camera, Blue Tooth. Compared to the CX-7 (which as mentioned isn't really the right comparo), the Edge & MKX are not nearly as sporty, softer ride, slower dynamics, etc... It all depends on what you are looking for. The Vista Sunroof on the Fords is really neat, so are the push-button folding rear seats, the MKX get's the adaptive headlamps that swivel, adaptive heating and A/C seats that change pressure points while driving to reduce fatigue...cool stuff.

The lack of third-row will disappoint quite a few; however, there are those city-dwellers that make the occasional Home Depot trip and haul their dogs around that don't really need a thir-row.

Again, it's all in what you are looking for. I just bought my wife the MKX...
