400hp in a 1900lb car will achieve those times you posted and handle wayyy better.

That is rediculous. It wouldnt be MPG (Miles Per Gallon) anymore it would be GPM (Gallons Per Mile).
I think the Lingenfelter Vette was tested at 950HP. But seriously go ahead and spend outrageous $ on a Vette just to be beaten to death by Gas prices.

About a week ago I saw my first Lotus Elise in real life. Truly an amazing car.
But that person can keep their Elise My friends G-Pa has a Lotus Superseven. It is in perfect condition too. He has had it stored in his garage ever since he first bought it. We are supposed to be bringing it out this summer and fixing it up completely and possibly looking for someone to make us a turbo kit to place on it.
Anyone around Tyler, Tx better watch out if they see one Also look out for a Black 300ZX TT.

Anybody know just how wide of tires you can fit on an Elise, 400hp is a lot to put to the ground in such a light car. I thought the US Elise was around 2100lbs. due to safety compliance.

they are sweet cars, hp to weight is always going to be a factor Sure would hate to drive one as a daily driver though, pretty crude as far as interior goes, definitely more of a track car compared to the 8 etc..

That thing must be SO FUN to drive around a track, very cool! But...yes as a daily driver it probably would be a pain, but then again in 3sec you would forget your complaints!

If I could have any car as my second, I seriously think the Elise would be it. It is everything a sports car should be.
I was just thinking....the engine in the Elise is virtually the same as the one in the Celica. It's pretty cool to see that the VVTL-i can be modded to such an extreme.

The Ariel Atom can best those numbers:
Atom:
weight: 1005 lbs
hp: 300
#/hp: 3.35 (less is better)
Turbo Elise:
weight: 1900 lbs
hp: 400
#/hp: 4.75
Enzo:
weight: 3020 lbs
hp: 660
#/hp: 4.58
0-60 numbers for the Atom are in the neighborhood of 2.8 seconds!

I kinda wish Lotus had developed their own 190hp engine for the base car. I don't know that I'd blow $42,000 on a car with a 190hp Toyota engine. It does something to the pedigree, in my mind, no matter what the performance numbers are. I'd rather have a British sportscar, through and through, even if it broke down a little more.

but that little toyota engine means that thing will run for a very long time. you can also take out the stock engine, grad a corolla engine from a junkyard and build it up for boost and have a ball. when its time to sell the car, just take out your built engine and put in the stock one again

The K20a is the best motor for that car in my opinon. Also, I'm pretty sure that engine is a Yamaha engine, not designed by toyota, just altered a bit. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me :p

Edit: to go along with the FI I might consider the 2JZ as well, but I'm not too sure it would fit.
