Looks like ****. I was hoping they'd come out with that blue concept pic that has been floating around the net. I'd trade my 8 in for a that in a hot second. But I'm not impressed if this ends up being the actual design.

nice, didn't they change the WRC rules that led to this next generation being designed as a hatch??

Impossible to tell what the front really looks like with all the masking and padding -- it is obvious that the headlights and grille have a different shape than the openings in the masking, but that's about it...

The back reminds me of a Dodge Caliber though...

No, but the rules change does favor shorter wheelbase cars.

For those of you judging the looks... It's a freaking test mule that they're trying to cover up and many of the details as possible. In other words, it's supposed to "look like ****".

I like the guy who, in that site's comments section, said "Not liking the exterior and what is with the exterior lines on the doors not matching? I hope the sedan is much better than this current version." I don't know how you can MISS the fact that there seems to be two gigantic styrofoam blocks glued to the side of that car, let alone all the rest of the masking.

Ugh. People.

I guess you're being sarcastic. At least I hope so.

We'll see how it turns out. I was looking forward to a hatchback/wagon/sedan this time around.

What are you talking about. The '06 WRX does weigh more but it also has more hp and is faster than the previous model years.

Looks like a Dodge Caliber rear-ended a Toyota Yaris.

And I really wish Subaru would give up on that little fish-gill hood scoop they like so much. it looks horrible.

The hood scoop looks more tasteful.......blends nicely into the hood IMO. Can't be sure what the car really looks like with all that camo. Overall shape starting to look like a VW GTI....which is not a bad thing at all.

Subaru...makes some very good quality cars,BUT, apart from the STI they are SO CONSERVATIVE and plain...like Mazda once was.

Subaru, great cars for Grandma and Grandpa..

To me Subarus have always felt very purposeful. To me they're the epitome of function over form, and I can really appeciate that. At the same time they have some personality and they have some of the most loyal customers in the business.

I've also always enjoyed some of their more out there designs. When I was a kid I loved the Brat, later I thought the XT6 would be my first car, and I still think the SVX was a very cool car from a design standpoint. However I really fell in love with Subarus as a result of Gran Turismo. To me there was something so cool about a fast fun sporty car that was also practical and didn't really look fast. Some people get it, some people don't.

When Subaru finally brought the WRX to Canada, I probably was the first to check it out. But then I found it to be softer than I imagined it to be, with a strong FWD bias to its handling. But I always tried to talk my wife into one, still a great car.

My dad wrenched for a Ford rally team in Europe, running escorts. As a young kid I heard all sorts of great stories. Even tried some wussy navigational rallies up here in a Swift GT, and pictured myself in a proper rally car. Still do on occasion, but gravel/fireroads at speed really kill a street car.

Subaru gets my respect for being different, lets hope they stay that way.

The problem isn't the drivetrain, it's the tires. Why Subaru keeps putting possibly the worst all seasons on the market on a sporty car I'll never know. Put proper rubber on the car and a rear sway and it feels like a totally different car.
