Not an MX-5 mind but a Mazda5 given the Mazdaspeed treatment

Now this actually started some time ago but Car and Driver finally posted teh article to go with it.

A team of C&D guys took a Mazdaspeed 3 and stripped all the go faster bits (and stop faster and turn better bits). Then they stuck them in a Mazda5

110 more HP than stock Higher Gs on the skid pad. Shorter stops slightly less MPG

The Boss Wagon haha, that's what we use to call my friends dad's old paddy wagon.

I was going to say Mazda is diluting the brand, but good to know it was C&D doing it, not Mazda.

Always a fan of a Mazda gettin the MS treatment....but this....its just like, why? MS3, yes i see why...MS6, yes i see why...MS MX-5, yup yup...MS RX-8, uh huh........MS5??? Dont know where they goin with this idea. Moms must be itchin for a turbo? wtf

there's a good chance that i saw this car, here in ann arbor. i remember seeing a white 5 w/ rims and thought it looked cool and wondered if it was the boss wagon...

 

Maybe Mazda is too afraid that a MS Rx-8 (with a turbo) might be the next FD...

 

...yet another slap in the face for RX-8 owners.

 

just wait...the Mazdaspeed B-Series truck will probably be next.

They had a lot of Headaches with the Wiring and PCM, Etc, not an easy swap they thought it would be...

SWEET!! The only thing holding me back from buying a minivan was the lack of turbo... who wants to trade??

 

really its not a minivan. even my wife says so. its much more like a Mazda3 wagon. They are good cars and we really like ours much more than the subie outback wagon we had before.

 

People are misunderstanding: This is not a TRUE MAZDASPEED product. It was built by Car and Driver mag. Don't get too upset (Those that may be upset). We won't be ill treated forever (I hope ).

There's been a Mazdaspeed MPV for years kids. And the new MPV is turbo standard. Still... Mazda missed the boat on the last MPV to build a car that would drive dads not moms to dealers - or at least influence the wifes decision. Should have been sportier. I still bought one cause it's better than anything else without being a yacht like the Odyssey over over-priced like the Sienna.

 

Not even that pedigree Paul. An ol' teacher and some students.
