Cool, I didn't say it the first time but the Cosmo looks like a bigger 240SX...or should I say the 240 looks like the Cosmo. What year is your car? It looks like late 80's or early 90's style.

same for me, the FC is such a beautiful car, yet to the untrained eye(aka 99.9999 percent of people) its just another generic old ugly 80s car. now im my FD(its also a bright color too) thats another story, theres a few stares a block in that old car, and im in west los angeles where people dont look twice at modenas or 996tt's. the rx8 gets peoples attention too, everyone thinks its a good looking car(unless they are a magazine reading "car enthusiast" and hate it because it doesnt do 0-60 in 5 flat)

my car is a 95, but the cosmo was in production from 90 to 95, it does look like an 240sx in pictures but like every mazda pictures dont do it justice, in person the car looks much better, it reminds me of the skyline r33 without all the spoilers and with more class.

Oh, I didn't know they made the Cosmo so recently. I really need to study my rotary history a bit more. So...it's a 2 door 4 passenger? How is it in the rear...comfy?

Another question, why would Mazda give the Cosmo a 3-rotor but not the RX line of cars, very strange to me???

the cosmo was the original RX-8, in japan most rx cars have names instead of rx, but rx-8 was going to be the export designation and since it was never exported to the US the designation went to the RX-8 you know today

well the rear seats( I only been there for like 15 minutes) are as confy as the rx-8 maybe a little more leg room.
this is the firts cosmo in my country

while the cosmo and rx8 are both luxury grand tourers cosmo is much more luxury oriented than the rx8 is, the rx8 being much more sporty, do the math 2800 pounds vs near 4000. 4 speed auto ONLY vs 6 speed manual, therefore i dont think the cosmo is the predecessor to the rx8 nor an "original rx8" its more of mazda's competitor to the toyota SOARER(even has simular lines)

there is a guy in the australian forum that work for mazda at the time that show the documantation where it clearly says the cosmo was going to be designated the rx-8 and some mazda enginiers have said the same thing, the designation rx-8 was even considered for the fd.

the cosmo doest weight 4000lbs, with all options the car weight 3,400 pounds+ the sport version weights 3300 pounds + and it is not dificult to cut some weight of the car since the car doest have all the weight saving parts the rx-8 does, I can change the hood, wheels, exhaust system, etc, belive me I have seen this partsand weighted them and they are really heavy, im sure I can shave of at least 100 pounds.

but remember the rx-8 has 13 development years ahead of the cosmo the only thing the cosmo has over the rx-8 its is ptential for crazy power.

regardless of the name, its not the predecessor to the rx8 and thats my opinion, it doesn't necessarily mean its a fact/its true, thats just what i feel based on the large differences in the goal of the car. the cosmo, rx7 and rx8 were all made for different purposes for the consumer.

it was not a predecessor, the cosmo was mazda way to say this is what we can built to show of their tecnology, a cosmo eccs cost at the time 5,400,000 yen or $50,000+ US, it is more a luxury car than anything else it is not a sports car like the rx-8/rx-7.

The Cosmo definitely isn't the predecessor to the RX-8 but the Cosmo would have had the RX-8 designation had it been exported. It's not about what the car was. It was just a name idea that had nothing to do with the current car. Look at the Mustang Cobras. Nobody would claim that car is the successor to the original Cobra. It's not. It's just a name.

ok guys pics coming really soon, its painted, 19 inch wheels, and some other thins done.

I can say this, this car is really fast it must have more than 350 hp, I have compare it with 2 cars a GS430 and a E55, it was much faster than the GS an a little slower than the E55(500hp!!!!), my car handles really good it has tein coil overs but its a really hard ride. the interior of the car its great for front passenger but in the back there is not much room ( I thoug it had more room than an rx-8 but It doest).

Im still amazed that this car was out in 1990.
