Ferrari Enzo - Fatal Crash

Looks like the ferrari enzo hit a sign post at triple digit speeds, 41yr old driver killed in crash, near Milian. The center passenger 'tub' either totaly blew apart or is not pictured. Car broke in half. :nono:

http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81352

People on the ferrari board where I first saw this are talking about it maby not being an enzo, but It looks like it to me, anyway, so sad!

EVERYONE DRIVE SAVE THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

XDEEDUBBX 11-23-2005 02:11 PM

is that half of his body in the yellow circle?

-=Rowdy=- 11-23-2005 02:13 PM

What a way to end your life in a bang though...

BlueEyes 11-23-2005 02:14 PM

One of my buddies made a good point. Why don't these hyper cars come with full cages? He said he posted it on ferrarichat, but nobody bit.

XDEEDUBBX 11-23-2005 02:18 PM

good point blue..i mean they are built to go 180+mph..i freak out when i hit 130 in my car.. =(

strokercharged95gt 11-23-2005 03:18 PM

thats the way to go out, i envy him! For years he'll be remembered as the guy you die wrecking his enzo at 200 mph.

ZGlide 11-23-2005 03:23 PM

Maybe a cage wouldn't have done anything in this incident....

legokcen 11-23-2005 03:23 PM

Or the idiot who drove 200 mph on public roads with no safety gear.

I agree. It may not have been the smartest thing but hey, atleast he is one of the few who will truly enjoy his enzo. He used it to its fullest. It wasnt just some museum piece that never drives.

BlueEyes 11-23-2005 05:04 PM

Guys, he's dead. I think he might think differently about the whole thing. If there is an afterlife, he's probably not sitting there saying "Gee, that was fucking great!"

nzarnow 11-23-2005 05:08 PM

I hope other people will learn from things like this. It doesn't matter if you can afford the car, but if you can drive it. I highly doubt that anything could have been added to this car to save his life, except of course a tank shell.

mike1324a 11-23-2005 05:12 PM

i agree this was bad i have respect for someone who actually uses the enzo, or any supercar for that matter. He actually used it the way it was ment to be used. To be driven!

Dude, the car is meant to be driven but not drive it & kill yourself with it.

It's was never designed to go 150 mph on public roads.

scottmhr1 11-23-2005 06:39 PM

What if it was a carload of kids that he hit, still respect that??? To drive that fast on public roads just shows an idiot not worthy of the slightest respect. If he can afford the car he could afford some track time somewhere.

Nemesis8 11-23-2005 06:40 PM

So tragic and sad when I see these stories - keep the speed on a track, where there is allot of runout.

buzzardsluck 11-23-2005 06:52 PM

look on page 22 of ferrari chat at post 428. we need to have that guy and our Mugatu have a flame war. lol

map 11-23-2005 09:02 PM

What a dumbass. It's sad that he died, but you can't say he didn't deserve it.

TeamRX8 11-23-2005 09:36 PM

we all deserve it, some of us are just luckier than others

mike1324a 11-24-2005 12:53 AM

I ment i respect him for driving it. not doing 150 on public streets.

u sure that mugatu and ours isnt one in the same?

Steiner 11-24-2005 01:09 AM

Wow...what an impact. That's the kind of damage you see when those Cesna planes crash.

NgoRX8 11-24-2005 01:16 AM

Damn.. that hurts. No way are cars suppose to drive and end up like that. Nor are the drivers....

PoLaK 11-24-2005 01:38 AM

sad but if the devil told me i had to die thats probably the way i would ask to go.

BlueEyes 11-24-2005 01:42 AM

I wonder if he was getting a BJ at the time, from a playmate, who forgot her clothes.

deam 11-24-2005 02:15 AM

It doesnt look like an enzo, if you knotice the hood, its not shaped correctly, and as well as the Tires, there way to big, still such a horrible accident

tiggerlee 11-24-2005 02:29 AM

I sure hope for his sake that is was quick and painless. I'm sure he had a brief moment of reflection just before impact.

I doubt it, maybe if my name was Senna, I was F1 worldchampion and at the end of my race car driver carreer.

It looks like an Enzo to me. In the 2nd picture down, look at the shape of the body panel in front of the wheel and then compare it to a picture of an Enzo or in my case a 1:18 scale model of one. It's the same panel. That is also the Enzo intake manifold. Ferrari doesn't use the same manifold on any other cars.

army_rx8 11-24-2005 09:06 PM

well to me it looks like a piece of mangled metal right now...so sad. i hope his/her family isn't too saddened this holiday season :(

In this day and age of relatively cheap supercars, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these incidents. Every account I've read of the new Z06 states that it is down right scary on the track (probably partially due to it's stock tires, but...). The current rendition of the super Vette may appreciate significantly as people destroy them in random fits of snap oversteer. Car and Driver says that only qualified drivers should be allowed to buy one, and I kind of agree. "Race cars on the street" is getting slightly ridiculous. When will too much car catch up with the driver?

Yeah, it might help the value, but it will also suck for the owners who can handle the car and are responsible, in the form of crazy insurance.

Chrisbert 12-02-2005 09:16 AM

I don't think that is a body part in the yellow circle. Under the tarp is probably his legs; cut off during the sideways hit.

TALAN7 12-02-2005 04:29 PM

What idiot thinks, wow, this guy went out in a bang, he used his car to the fullest? Crashing an exotic car and killing yourself just proves how stupid you are! Either he was suicidal or just stupid. Wrecking a Ferrari is not using it to the fullest. Being able to still drive it 40 years later, now that's a full life.

Come on man....Alzheimer's isn't that common yet.

djgiron 12-03-2005 08:08 AM

This thread is funny. I personally dont give a rats a$$ how he feels/felt or for his family. I hope he was smiling the entire time (I would have been)! I bet his butt was clenched up so tight when he started losing control it was still in the seat after the wreck. The only thing that sucks about all this is he ruined a damn nice car erasing himself from the gene pool. All I have to say is, such is life. Oh, the funny thing is you all are actually agruing over this idiot. Actually wasting your time being upset with someone else cause someone you dont know wrecked his car and died haha. You should be happy that he is not going to show up in your neighborhood and run down your friends/family at 200+ MPH driving like a fool and killed himself. Lighten up, this guy showed us life is too short to be so angry about stupid crap. (Note, this is coming from someone that has spent 7 hours sitting in a concrete bunker waiting for the mortars to stop falling from the sky around him!)

himitsu 12-12-2005 01:00 AM

make that what? 98 Enzos in the world currently?

such a waste of a good car.

I was going to say the same thing as deam, but then as I considered it, the piece I think he's referring to as a hood is actually the roof of an Enzo. Though the picture betrays a rather large piece of metal I think this is the only piece of an Enzo it could be. The left rear wheel well and quarter panel are easily identifiable as Enzo. I tried attaching this photo edit I did with the referenced areas (circled in yellow for continuity)... either way, that guy is really dead (as opposed to a little bit dead) and really an idiot... that should be the main focus of this thread

BlueEyes 12-19-2005 03:40 AM

I don't think it's the roof. As you can see in the picture, the doors make a sort of T-top out of the roof. They open and take part of the roof with them. It could be a piece from underneath the car for all we know.

Doesn't the tread on this tire look like the same Potenzas we have stock?

BRGREEN8 12-19-2005 04:40 AM

i dont know if its just me, but look at the second picture on the first page . isnt that rim a bit SMALL ? i thought they came stock 19s? that dont look like 19s to me. perhaps it was a replica?

Good call. Forgot about the roof opening up like that, but then what else could it be? Looking at the originally circled photo, one can almost make out a thin line of red along the edge of the "hood" that would lead one to speculate as deam did. I'm pretty confident the car WAS an Enzo, but I just can't tell what the hell THAT PIECE IS... :dunno:

Kudos to Blue Eyes... :yelrotflm

BunnyGirl 12-19-2005 03:16 PM

I showed my Italian friend the picture and he doesn't think it looks like an Enzo either, but he said it's hard to tell since it is just crumpled metal at this point. His family is one of the mega rich types that collect and drive expensive cars (investment banker plus trust fund brat). He, himself, has a 2005 Ferrari Spider (not sure which type except that it is convertible) and his dad has a 2005 Ferrari Maranello 575M.
