Talking Ferrari 430 and 600

Well, im bored now that my clavical is broken so I stumbled across some shots of the new ferraris.

the 430 Monza is set to replace the 360 and said to use a 4.2-4.5 litre v8 good for 425-475 hp to compete with the gallardo

the 600 Imola is set to replace the 575M and will use a 6.0-liter engine adopted from the Enzo and 612 Scaglietti models. It should be tuned somewhere between the 612 and enzo, about 580-600hp

The 430 just keeps getting better IMO (well, assuming it's the sucessor to the 360). Another picture I saw of the 430 had a bit of a different front end on it. The two openings in the front were seemingly connected by thin channel at the bottom of the front. I believe I saw that picture in my new Road & Track, but I could be wrong. Anyhow... Sweet ride. I can't wait to see one in person. I remember when I first saw a 360 Modena in person. Wow.

I think I have seen that pic too, its yellow right. When i saw it, they said it was a photoshop jobby of a 360 to make it look like the spy shots of the 430.

And, I think the 600 looks good, its hard to tell with all the the masking on it, i bet it will be a winner, but then i like the 612, a lot of people dont.

That very well could be. From where you got these pics, any mention of whether it's going to be called the 430 Modena or 430 Monza (or something else)? I can't remember if the picture I saw was also red or if it was yellow. Then again, I don't remember if it was an artists conception, or an actual photo. Too much scotch I guess. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

I think it's OK for that sort of GT car. I might pick something like a DB9 over the 600, but then again, these look like preproduction spy photos so who knows how much more refined it will look when it's put into production.

If they are only getting 425 hp from the 4.3 L that is absolute garbage. How do you go from a 400 hp (OK 396) 3.6 L, increase the size almost 20% to 4.3 L and only get a 25 hp (about a 6%) increase ? Unless torque swells up I see this as a big step back for Ferrari. The 360 ran with the Z06, now a "regular" Corvette (and probably the Cobra) will be very close to it.

I checked my R&T... They're calling it the 420 Modena or 420 Monza (They're not sure which it will be), but admit Ferrari took out the F430 trademark in some markets. The image is of a red car, and upon closer inspection of the front the picture is very likely 'shopped... Although quite well. It's just the shadowing inside the front intake that looks funkily not real.
Anyhow, yep, they're stating 420bhp which seems a bit low (for the displacement), but they're not giving a torque number. Remember, however, that the car is supposed to compete with cars like the Gallardo, so I'm sure it will have plenty of oomph where it counts to beat it.

The 430 looks amazing. They just need to make those front intakes a little smaller or more subtle somehow.

It's hard to tell from these spy shots, but I think the production 600 will look nice also. I wasn't crazy about the 612 at first, but the look as really grown on me.

From what I have read, Ferrari is using the 4.2 L used in some maserati as a base. they may be increasing displacement to 4.3 L. The horsepower would be in the range I have said, but torque would be up and the redline would be around 9000 rpm. not bad for a v8.

Talk about insane revving. Any idea of how much this car is going to cost?

for you and me, an arm, a leg and our left nut no doubt. but seriously, i have no idea, i cant imagine its much more than the current 360.

The Gallardo is ~ 170k,
Ford GT ~ 140 K
GT2 ~ 180 K
360 ~ 150K - 180K.

Since this is their main competition, they wouldnt want to price themselves too much higher. But, its ferrari, if you can afford those prices, you can afford a few thousand more.

The Ferrari 360 sells new for $60k-80K over sticker.

That is cool. It was always my dream to own a Ferrari. It's okay, I love my 8 :D. I'm waiting for her to get turbocharged (GT3540R?). Besides, my girlfriend is Italian. That's good enough for me.

the Ford GT is surprisingly the best deal for performance for the price. I saw some review where it was keeping up with the Carrera GT, almost three times the price. That's one badass ford....to say i desire a ford GT is the understatement of the millenium

There are good investments and there are investments that cost $1/mile to keep them rolling.

I seriously doubt that a current engine that redlines at 7000 RPM's will be able to be pushed another 2000 RPM's. If that was the case they should just take the current 3.6 L in the 360 Modena (which has a 9000 RPM redline). I would suppose a 4.3 L from these two engines would look like this :

4.3L (from current 3.6 L in 360 Modena) :

9000 RPM
475 hp
290 lb.-ft. of torque

4.3 L (from current 4.2 L in Maserati) :
7000 RPM
425 hp
340 lb. ft. of torque

Personally I think I would rather have an iteration of the current 360 engine. The Maserati engine will be nothing but a glorified Corvette engine.

Also MazdaspeedFeras, at this price level I seriously doubt people that can afford these cars worry about "best deal" for the performance. The Carrera GT & Enzo have ripped 11 flat-11.2 1/4 mi. The Ford GT does it in the 11.6's (not exactly slow). The Carrera GT was the fastest car "Top Gear" ever tested (1:18.3, more than 1 second faster than the McLaren/Mercedes SLR).
