Mitsubishi just announced that the prototype version of the Evolution X will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January. Not to be confused with the Concept-X concept car first shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005, this is expected to be a near-production version of this hotly anticipated new Evo. The tenth edition of the Lancer Evolution may actually drop the Lancer part of its name by the time it reaches showrooms next year as a 2008 model.

wow a non-mazda thread by zoom... im not sure if i like the changes though... the current EVO rocks... making it bigger seems to go against the hardcore performance aspect of the car... ohh well, at least it might be lighter, which is a good thing.
they seems to be going the GT-R route, where they are seperating the GT-R from the skyline/G35 line, as the Evo is seperating from the lancer line

wow, that new Evo looks pretty hot! It doesn't have that "ricer" look that the current version does. Lets hope for a M/T though.

That's the concept not the production car. Has anyone seen spy photos of the production version they will be revealing at NAIAS?

This is by far my most anticipated car debut. I really hope they stay true to the concept (at least on the exterior). I will be waiting for the DSG version though. Hooray!
