Evo Records

Was a fun few days for the Evo community. First AMS goes out and tops the MPH record and then Buschur comes back 2 days later and bests them. The AMS run was done with a stock transfer case so they were launching easy and didn't have a great ET. Not sure what Buschur's excuse was for running a high ET... Most likely they were just doing what they could to top the MPH record.

1000-1100whp on a dynojet. Back when they were around 800-900whp and running 9's at 15X they were shockingly streetable. To dip into the 8's they had to stop caring about the car still being streetable and had to relocate the turbos. Dave Buschur drove his personal car to the event where the ealier AMS clip is from, let his buddy run some 9's around 150mph, and then took his son out to dinner and then home afterwards. Honestly though, unless you're insane, a 600ish whp Evo is about as far as I'd go for a street car that gets taken out more than once in a blue moon. However, there are 900-1000whp Evos out there that are street cars.

all styling crappyness aside, the evo is one of the most impressive cars I've seen, and I like it more than STIs

and heres another crazy reason why by ike @.@

I wonder what the local law enforcement would have to say if I drove around with a parachute hanging out the back of my car...

Mainly laugh...and tell you to pack the chute back into the bag...haaa

What's the turbo operating range on these 1000whp beasts? Like 1500rpms?

No doubt impressive numbers. I'm just trying to get a feel for "streetable".

they'd probably pull you over and ask whether your car is modded.....from personal experience

The GT42/45R cars they've done for the street that make 900-1000whp usually start to spool at around 4500 rpms and are making over 300whp by 5k RPMs at which point the WHP skyrockets all the way to the redline which is anywhere between 8k to IIRC over 10k depending on the setup.

Here's a video of one of their customer cars. It'll give you an idea of the dyno graph and how long you can stay on it.

The drag cars, like I said, are no longer streetable. If someone really wants a lot of horsepower and a very streetable setup going with a GT35 or GT37R and a 2.3L stroker will get you 600-750whp and some decent lowend. Those cars are big pussy cats to drive around town when not on boost but aren't so doggy because the turbos aren't as huge and they have more displacement.
