This is what happens when you mix a SUV with an 8.

I'm not sure Mitsu wants to be an 8 as this is a 5 seater true 4-door hatchback not suv, and it has only a couple styling cues from the 8. I think it looks pretty good, although this is only a concept and might not come to the states because of mitsu's demise.

it doesn't have any styling cues from the 8, don't be so arrogant. FYI, the 8 did not pioneer any styling cues.

WTF... where do you get RX8 from that?

Reminds me more of an Infinti FX45

I really have no idea. I swear, for every new car that has been unveiled since I joined this site, some asshat has started a thread claiming they ripped of styling from the 8. I just figure it's some sort of complex you get when you buy the car.

Looks a lot more like the Evo's styling than the 8's. Matter of fact, I don't see anything that came from the 8 on that vehicle.

Other than the gaping front end gap, I really like it.

Yeah didn't Saturn do that like 10 years ago?

It looks like I'm the only one who thinks it's fugly.

I can sort of see the TL on the front end of the car, but I really don't see any cues from the RX8. Maybe it's just me though. I do like this styling of this car however and think it might do well in today's crossover market. Mitsubishi needs to do something and quickly to get back in the game.

Tell me, since I'm the "asshat" that started this thread, since when is it inappropriate for me to state my opinion? I think there ARE similarities between the 8 and the mistubishi. From the read 3/4 view, the way the front fender is shaped, the vents behind the front wheels and the line extending from the vent over the body of the car.

I swear, it's people like you that discourage anyone from ever posting on the forum. Last I checked, the purpose of a forum was to encourage discourse and discussion. If you agree or disagree, fine. Atleast that's constructive/interesting discussion. You're labeling of people doesn't add anything to the discussion.

I didn't intend to hurt your feelings, or discourage you from posting. it wasn't necessarily directed at you anyhow. It's an accumulation of literally dozens of threads claiming other designers find the 8 so attractive that they have to copy it. It wears thin, it really does. I mean the 8 is a good looking car, no doubt, but nobody is copying it. Other than the rotary hood, I really don't see anything that the 8 was first with.

Did you see that thread a few days ago claiming the 612 looked like an 8, I mean honestly!! I almost fell off my chair. It was deleted, I assume, but the thread starter.

To say mitsubishi (or any company) wants an rx8, or that their styling is coming from the 8 is taking it too far, IMO.

Plus, I like the word asshat. I was called one today too, it made me laugh. I use it in the most affectionate way :p

My apologies wushunut. keep on keepin on.

PS, this car with EVO level performance would be pretty badass me thinks.

That would probably make a nice, fun car. Although I'd probably take the evo over it, it would be more functional than the little econobox.

No hard feelings BlueEyes. By no means am I deluded enough, as much as I like my car, to think that the 8 has cornered the market on innovation and styling. I can understand your frustrations too. I guess the title is misleading. I guess I was more struck (and trying to point out) my perceived similarities in some of the styling aspect of the two vehicles. It wasn't my intention to imply that one begot the other. I guess the statement I made in my original post more accurately reflects my opinion and perhaps would serve as a better thread title!

My apologies as well.

Well, from what I hear, the new rules for WRC will mean this type of car will become the evo (hatchback). I wouldn't be suprised if it has more room than the evo anyhow, if that's what you meant by functional.
