Well, we sure as hell aren't going back to MTBE after all of the villification (cancer schmancer).
What will we use instead of ethanol or MTBE? Any other additive (ETBE, etc) would probably significantly increase the cost of the fuel.

These people want a result without actually considering a method of arriving at it.
Kind of like whining about a problem without ever doing anything to resolve it.

I've know that fact for years.

To think a petition will mean more to a politician than a lobbyist corporation is laughable.

The whole purpose of adding ethanol to gasoline was for emissions purposes. It's been long proven that not only does it not do anything to reduce emissions but that it actually causes more pollution due to the nature of how it's produced.

Not to mention it causes a reduction in gas mileage which means you have to use more gas than you would otherwise without it.

It's a simple solution. Stop the 50+ reformulations of gasoline and remove ethanol from it all together.

The problem is the ethanol lobby is well funded and has the backing of farming corporations. They have actually been trying to raise the amount of ethanol in gasoline to further subsidize the industry.
