And don't get all bent out of shape about the exhaust dent. There's one just like it on the GTO's stock cat back. The reaction was to freak out!!! Oh no!!! A dent in the pipe!!! Disrupting my exhaust flow!!! Robbing my horsepowerz!!! But here's the best part... one of the guys did a dyno, fixed the dent and smoothed it out perfectly, and then re-dyno'd the same hour. What was the difference? Nothing!!!!!! Nada!!!!! Zero!!!! Zip!!!!
Point is, the aftermarket looooooves **** like this because they know they're going to sell a bunch of cat backs based on nothing but panic from "enthusiasts". Garbage.

?? How the F&*k do they get away with that? List it at 200hp (crank) and it dynos 227 to the wheels? Thats not even remotely close to being accurate. There isnt a production vehicle in the world that dynos MORE at the wheels than it claims to have at the crank! MADNESS!! (a good madness)

But, take a look again.. the peak torque is 227 lb-ft. Horsepower is actually a measly 197 rwhp.

I was looking at the shape of the doors on the Exige, and they're very unigue in that the bottom is extremely rounded. Whatever that is, the door is squared off at the bottom. Top of it looks right though.

Edmunds, do you guys realize that 4th gear is NOT 1:1?
It is 1.233:1 which means your power numbers are higher than they actually are.
5th gear is where you want to be performing your dyno pulls, unless you are compensating for the difference which seems like silly busy work.

No... if they used a direct RPM pickup. I would assume they did. The dyno does the calculations for gearing and power because it knows the engine RPM and wheel speed.
Theoretically, you should see higher numbers for higher gears as you have the most parasitic loss in 1st, but other factors affect dyno'ing in higher gears, such as the length of time the pull requires resulting in heat soak and pulled timing.
The shortcut way to dyno is not use the RPM pickup and assume a 1:1 ratio or try to setup an RPM ratio from a single sample off the car's tach... not the right way to do it.
So that guy that you quoted basically has no idea what he's talking about.

I'm impressed by the power plant and other features of this car, but I just can't get over my initial hyundai impressions. When I bought my mazda 6 like 3 years ago I test drove a few hyundai sonatas and some kias. The mazda 6 was a dream compared to these cars. I knew nothing about handling or mazdas, but test driving the 6 made the 20 some other cars I test drove that day "stale". Btw this was back in 05 or so.

^ I think Hyundai today is quite different from the Hyundai of yesterday. The new Genesis sedan is nicer than the old 6. But not as nice as the new 6.

The motor is just a Mitsubishi made 4B11. I believe it's just the same engine that Mitsu recently put in the new Ralliart. It's essentially a detuned version of the Evo X motor running a smaller turbo. This new Hyundai is gonna sell like hot cakes. Every 18-25 year old out there with a decent paycheck is going to trade in their modified FWD car for one.

Dyno from a Korean tuner website. Purportedly, only an ECU mapping was done. Stock turbo, intake, exhaust everything.
Stock: 188whp(PS), Torque 30.2kg.m
ECU Tune: 223.6whp(PS), Torue 42.6kg.m
Approximately 35whp(PS) gain and 12.5kg.m torque increase.
If only the 13B had this easy tuning potential...sigh And I'm so jealous of that lowend torque

As there is ahem "some problems" between the dyno here and the above 'tuned' one .... ah ...someone is screwing up somewhere
