Funny how pro race car drivers wreck and they do it for a living and not a soul will say they should never drive a race car again or that they should stick to Camrys! He wrecked his car doing something for someone else, not even on a public road doing anything wreckless or stupid! I'm just wondering what prompts the mentality to make people think in such a negative manner! Anybody in here that crashes needs to downgrade to a bicycle because that is how some seem to think here! I hope he gets a stable of exotics just to **** some of you off...it would only be fair IMO!

Pro drivers don't wreck while wearing late-60's disco suits at charity events... They also do wreck while competing door-to-door with other crazy drivers, not while alone on the course.

There have been two Enzos wrecked in this world, and that I know of, both were in the Los Angeles area. This certainly doesn't say much about the quality of our drivers.

I heard earlier that he claimed there was a cone stuck under one wheel! LOL I didn't see no cones stuck in that video clip. Personally I would have claimed that the throttle stuck and sued Ferrari.

+1. This guy was on a track -- practicing. What the hell else do you want him to do to get better? If the guy who owns this is willing to let someone else drive then he/she accepts the risk of it being completely totaled.

Wasn't it in Vegas a few weeks back that a lot of Nascar drivers were wrecking on that turn regardless of them getting bumped because their back ends were breaking loose! Do we want to put them in some Camrys now?

OK, not wanting to stir the pot here but lots of misconceptions in this thread (IMHO) that I figured I'd try and clear up.

-It was at Irwindale Speedway here in CA
-I think there have been 4 totaled enzos so far, the 2 here in CA, 1 in Hong Kong, and another somewhere else, I believe.
-I totally agree that the course designer probably wrecked that car. The barrier is there to protect spectators and it did its job but that tight of a turn shouldn't be anywhere near that close to a wall. Anyone hear of RUNOFF SPACE?!?!?!
-I think it wasn't his fault if you ask me. Cones get run over all the time in autocross runs, he just had the shitty luck of getting it stuck in the wheel well and locking up the wheel.

Disclaimer / GTFO clause: I'm not a course designer nor a car engineer but I do have logic at my disposal.

Heard that on the local news, the same station that the footage is from. Someone mentioned it a page back. I was surprised because the reporter that was covering the story there knew what he was talking about. (I always criticize shitty ignorant reports on airplane crashes/mishaps.) He explained how in events like these, people hit cones all the time and implied that it wasn't all his fault. They had more footage of someone driving the SLR McLaren taking out a gang of cones too.

You guys do know that anytime somebody wrecks a EnZo, the cost goes up in value. 4 gone...396 left. That is what the Dupont registry guy told me at our Autoshow. So keep smashing those Enzo's.....

Before you know it they will be Priceless.....

There has been more then 4 enzos wrecked but for a 6 figure price ferrari said they could repair many of them and my guess is that this one can and will be repaired too. The damage is bad but its not totalled.

i though enzo's could stop on a dime? he must've been going WAY way WAYYYY too fast into that turn...

also: if i were his boss, or the producer or whoever, i'd be thanking him. his crash has generated a lot of talk for an otherwise worthless movie. any press is good press

it costs $1.5 million and the owner claims it's totalled, it will have to ship back to the factory if it is repairable

he simply overdrove into the corner in a car he's never driven before, the car understeered forever at full lock and he didn't know what to do, the location of the wall is not at fault

the Undacova Brotha can't drive .... the man's own words

some are suspecting this is yet another publicity stunt for the movie Redline, an expensive stunt, but hey, it's working brilliantly

Hell of an expensive stunt, they could have at least picked something replaceable like a Gallardo or something.

The car belonged to the producer. He was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing. I would've been crying like a baby!!!!!!!

I dunno. He hit that wall pretty freakin hard. Seems far fetched to think it was planned.

but letting a complete car nub like eddie griffin take helm of an enzo owned by the film producer? that seems far from 'unplanned'

Why would he cry? It's called insurance. Now he can go out and buy the latest supercar on everyone's wish list, a Veyron or CCX.

In fact, I don't think the car even belongs to him. I thought I read the car belongs to a rental company for high-end exotics.

I just heard on a radio station that the car might be stunt car and it is not a real Enzo. All of it was used to gain publicity.... also check it out in TMZ.com (need to scroll down a bit)

Publicity stunt perhaps?

Why the hell would you set up a hairpin right nexts to a wall?

And it's not totaled...Ferrari will fix that.
