That's a pretty heavy car. I've never seen published specs, but a 340hp motor propelling a 4100lb car should be good for somwhere in the low 15's I would think.

oh wow i was thinking it woudl be in the mid to high 13s. My buddy has one and it seems pretty quick, especially off the line with all that torque.

It looks like the Charger RT does it in about 14.5 from what I've been reading online.

Yeah in the SRT8--the R/T is about a second or so slower than the 425HP one.

Not sure about the actual times, but I bought my wife an RT with the Road and Track Package (it's the Daytona in stealth mode) and it has 350HP w/390lbs torque. For a 4000 lb car it moves and the torque will throw you in your seat. Still love my RX8, but this car will beat it off the line.

Motor Trend (Dec. '05 issue) did a head-to-head with the GTO and a Charger SRT8. The SRT8 did 0-60 in 5.0 seconds, 0-100 in 11.9 seconds and the quarter at 13.5 @ 106.3.

The Charger has been averaging 16-17, compared to my RX8s 18-19.

I can imagine the SRT8 moving out with it's 425 HP Hemi, because mine moves and it's only 350 HP. Defiantely, no comparison to the RX8 in spirited driving on the highway.

I agree 100%. At first I really hated the look......but there is a black SRT8 that I see driving around in my area with the windows all blacked out and it looks mean. Not sure I would ever get one though.....but it's growing on me.

it's like your reading my mind!! lol, yeah I saw a black one around here dropped on some black rims and with what looks like a lip kit (kinda like our appearance package) when I fist saw it I was with a friend who had heard me repeatedly talk in disgust about the new chargers, first thing I said was DAAAAMMN! that's hot! (she just rolled her eyes) and ever since it's been growing on me constantly, if I could afford another new car I would certainly consider it, not saying I would certainly buy one.. there are alot of other cars out there but it would certainly consider it!

The curb weight of the Magnum and Charger are very close. I was told they utilize the same frames.

IMO it looks best in black. Black 20's with a polished lip, blacked out windows......that's a bad-*** ride.

Yup, platform sharing again. 300/Charger/Magnum/Challenger I believe.

The Charger was based on the Magnum platform. If I'm not mistaken it is about 4 inches longer than the 300.

I am either going to wait for the upcoming challenger, or get a GTO with the Sport Appereance Package in 2008 when the suicide doors and updated interior come out. The GTO is my dream car, but I have to keep an open mind about the challenger.

Right now it is either GTO or Camaro depending on which one is better in 2008-2010.

Hold the phone... suicide doors? The Sport apperance package that they offer does help the bland looks. Hmmm... tempting. But if a new Camaro comes out looking close to the Camaro Concept (like the Solstice did)... I'm a Ford man, but I think I might have to go with the General this time.

Kinda odd on the numbers out. Drove from office, south of Dayton OH to our Detroit office. Saw 4 magnum station wagons, and 3 challengers, 0 rx-8s. For what they are thought the magnums and challengers(boss thinks they imitate the new mustang) but think in our area they are showing the new stuff off. we with eights no better tha to take a long trip in th middle of FEB! lol

I think I just read in Motor Trend that the GTO is having the plug pulled.
