Decepticons in Transformers 3 Are Modded NASCAR Vehicles
From Insideline.com ( http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/...-vehicles.html )
Just the Facts:
CHICAGO — Filming for the third installment of director Michael Bay's Transformers 3 has started in Chicago, and spy videos have caught the evil Decepticons in action on the set.
The vehicles caught are hopped-up and gun-equipped versions of the NASCAR Chevy Impala, wearing a unique livery and the numbers 48 and 88. Bay also announced a couple months back on his blog that the new Ferrari 458 Italia will be an Autobot in the next film. The 2012 Chevy Spark has also been spied in Autobot form on the set and will presumably appear in the movie, albeit not as the characters Skids and Mudflaps.
The sure-to-be action-packed movie is set to be released in July 2011. It will not feature Megan Fox.
Check out Kicking Tires for pictures of the cars caught during filming.

#2 Wonder how much Mr. Hendrix is getting for his input 48=Jimmycon 88=Jrcon LOL
#3 I am SOOO glad Fox is out....yeah, she's not bad to look at but I'm sooo sick of her. She couldn't act her way out of a torn wet paperbag!
I've been a Transformers junky since I was a kid...looking forward to this one! Wonder if they will ever introduce Rodamus (sp) prime???

I'm not the biggest fan, but in the first movie, they just looked at another object and could turn into it.

New 'Transformers 3' Characters Discovered
When we posted about “Transformers 3” filming in Chicago earlier today, we didn’t realize how many Cars.com employees were hanging out at the set/outside our offices over the weekend. Internet support specialist Michael Howe and business analyst Eric Prahl were on hand for the whole thing and posted a slew of photos on their Facebook pages.
How did they get so close to all the Autobots and Decepticons? “Ironhide and the two small cars weren’t being filmed; they just had them sitting out,” Howe said. They got right up close to the filming, too.
What we’ve learned is not only are Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ratchet back, so are the twins, Skids and Mudflap, with different paint jobs. There are also two new European luxury-car-based Autobots.
We’re not sure what their names will be, but there was a gorgeous red Ferrari 458 Italia and a not-so-shabby blue Mercedes-Benz E-Class amongst the caravan of Autobots in downtown Chicago.
What about the Decepticons? They’re bringing out three NASCAR racecars — with what looks like official numbers and paint jobs — outfitted with mountains of guns on the hoods, fenders … basically everywhere. We’ve got photos of them after the jump.

Yeah, that would be cool to see. Man, I'd love to visit Japan one day. And as cheezy as skids and mudflap are, they did crack me up in the movie.

It's gonna take a miracle to get me to see this movie. I loved the first, hell I went to see it 3 times and bought the DVD, but that second one... ugh, it was about as enjoyable as drinking battery acid. Or driving an automatic.
I have zero faith in the quality doing a 180, but I suppose anything's possible.

^+1. The first one I loved with the right balance of action and story to love the characters.
The only thing good about the 2nd one was the battle in the beginning, Optimus donning double blades, and the Jetfire merge. The story was ****, introducing those punk little cars was dumb, a humanoid robot was dumb, the motorcycles were dumb, showing previously destroyed Decepticons fighting that got destroyed in the 1st movie was dumb and Destructoid's image was ruined making it look like a mindless beast instead of individual robots with personalities forming together. Although I spare Fox in the 1st movie (I think she acted well) it looked like she was just flaunting her looks and surgery lips up (which are worst than her normal ones IMO) and dropped the acting completely.
They need to stick with what worked. Very few movies do this without going over the top. The Dark Knight is a perfect example of moving it to the next level while keeping the story the main focus.
