CX5 official reveal

Manual transmission only available with stripped-down models.
Mazda won't confirm North American diesel engine in public (we've only heard from journalists who have been told behind closed doors).
First item not as important, but the second worries me. Mazda could sell the hell out of a 45-50MPG SUV.

Very ugly front end Kodo elements- a total mess. Nissan/Infiniti-style ridges on the hood are pleasant. Side panel surfacing is more Chris Bangle than some "Kodo" gimmick.
Kodo elements are minimal here except for the front end. For anyone having a hard time understanding or "seeing" Kodo, it's really not that complicated. Whenever you see a really messy surface, it's probably Kodo. "Kodo" is just a gimmick verbal label. What it really means is "make it messy."
Regardless, I think the ability of the "Skyactiv" concepts to imbue the US consciousness will have far more effect on sales than any external design elements.
