Consumer Reports Takes the EPA Mileage Test To School

Check this out. The RX8 numbers won't surprise many, allthough I just proved I could get the 18 city mpg with my A/C on by using alot of 6th gear. Check out the other Mazda models, more over, look at the HWY mileage for the 3i! Damn, 42mpg? Looks like Mazda gets better than advertised hwy and slighly below city. This is a rather comprehensive list.

BTW, if your wondering how I can get 18mpg in the city (talking 15% fwy driving or less), my mods are:

Royal Purple 5W-20 Oil
Royal Purple Tranny Fluid
Racing Beat REVi with CAI duct
Racing Beat Spark Plug Wires
Fresh spark plugs at 12,000mi

In addition, I maintain properly inflated and rotated tires and always cruise in 6th gear. I run royal purple fuel treatment through the car with each oil change ~6,000 mi

I was surprised by a lot of the cars. Some really huge gaps between city and highway, some were 12 city and 30 highway, weird. Thanks for the link
