Compression test results

Hi Guys

Just got a 05 rx8 190bhp with 68 k on the clock.
The rx8 cat is apparently broken up and the compression test results are as follows.

6.4 6.6 6.6

6.4 6.2 6.2

That is at 250 rpm for both.
The dealer says the min should be 6.8.

The dealer I bought it from is saying they will pay to fit a new cat.
Should I be worried About the compression results?

Thanks guys much appreciated

Owen

Time for a rebuild.
It may end up being not that expensive since the compression is even amidst the rotor faces. It's surely better to rebuild it now than wait for worse things to happen.

Reading through some posts here you will also learn why these engines fail. Couple of search tips: ignition (coils) , spark plugs , catalytic converter, oil metering pump (omp) , premix .

You said you just bought the car, the dealership will replace the cat, how about the engine? It's better to replace it now than later, until the warranty expires on you. Anyway, those numbers are pretty low though.

Hi guys

Thanks again.
Yea I'm trying to get them to fix as much as possible of the car before the warrenty runs out. This info willl give me some more ammo to go back to them about either getting the car up to scratch or give me my money back.

Thanks guys

Where are you located? The extended engine warranty only applies to the US and Canada.
