Clutch problems with Rx-8

Ok, yesterday i was driving down my street to get to my house and my clutch started to slip. About 3 min later my car was on the side of the road, and my clutch was burned out of my car. I know i treat my car a lil bit bad but at 8000 miles that should not have happened. Has this happened to anyone else.
