MR2s are ok looking--they aren't my taste but I don't see anything wrong with the styling. They are still quicker than the current N/A Miata's and the handling of a mid engined car is supurb.

I'm gonna have to disagree with your assessment of the women liking the RX8 looks tho--off of the simple principle that the RX8 still has a newness factor to it that adds to its headturning looks. It looks far more expensive than it really is.

 

And let's not forget the suicide doors... I dont know why but females seem to think they're the greatest thing ever.

 

Hey, I think the 8 is awesome looking. Looks way leaner than the bloated Z and has a fresher look than the S2K.

But I was speaking for what I'd assume most girls would like.

 

I think this is a stupid topic. But recently I've had 3 girls tell me that I look like an SUV or F150 kinda guy. WTF? Does that mean I'm ugly?

 

No chick would want a car with no trunk (the front storage can't even hold a basketball), a manual top, and no vanity mirrors.

The Spyder is about a good power-to-weight ratio and pure driving. Top down, rear-drive, mid-engine 5 speed. No automatic available (except for the new SMT, which doesn't even have an auto mode)

I think this kind of performance-first engineering qualifies it as a guy's car.

 

lol, did I mention that it was my mom's car? Agree that the spyder has minimal storage space (i can barely go grocery shopping for crying out loud!) Top down is fun but i'm not liking the MST at all.

We're all entitled to our own preferences--that's why I got the 8 and not the sypder...

 

This is such a silly topic.... A bunch of people, mostly of the male variety, on the RX-8 board, discussing which of the RX-8 or some other cars is the best "chick magnet." This makes sense? And to compound the silliness, much of the "discussion" has revolved around which those of the female persuasion might find to be a better car, which I think is not the same thing as the original question anyway.

It certainly can produce some amusing responses (3 at a time in the RX-8), but what would you expect the consensus to be on the RX-8 board? Go to either the 350Z board or the S2000 board, and they wouldn't give the RX-8 a second thought. Maybe you need to find a "chick board," and ask there.

But, as long as I'm here, I'll add to the silliness--for sheer attention-getting, there's nothing (short of a true exotic) which will garner admiring stares like a shiny convertible on a sunny day (and the RX-8 doesn't come with a can-opener). Neither the S2000 nor the 350Z with the top up is particularly a head-turner, but with the top down....

I've been dating a lot of girls lately and NOT ONE of them has been impressed by my car. and, I actually like that, because it means they are not materialistic or 'gold digging.'

however, most of them have been rich girls, so maybe they grew up driving daddy's M3 or something.

I'm too lazy to read all the posts...but my car picks up a ton of guys. Here at least, they're still not as common as an S2K or 350z. all my girlfriends love the car, but i honestly wouldn't say it's more of a chick attractor...id go w/the s2k as that honestly...But my car deff. can pick up guys like no other..lol

unfortunately..i have to say the s2k...because i've owned both.

girls like knowing it will just be THEM and YOU...not two abnoxious friends tagging along..lol and it's a convertable.....girls just like convertables... it doesn't matter if it's a geo prizm...if it's a convertable..they think it's cute..lol

i get more guys lookin and questions from them about it than girls. but don't get me wrong.. there girls that look and smile and honk..etc..just not as much as in the s2k with the top down.

 

124 Spider, I agree, it's silly. That is, however, why it's fun. There's something that alot of people here seem to miss anyway. Guys like different cars, just b/c we're all different people. Some guys may forget sometimes, but girls are people too... lol. Some may like the S2000 better, some may like the RX-8, etc. It's all personall preference. It's not like cars have a sex. Cars are either fast and cool looking or thier not. Granted they can look more masculine or feminine, but I think all 3 cars are masculine to a degree. Now if one car came with a pheromone option.... that would be different...

I am sure i could find enough women to like each one better then the other two. But, for me(not a woman) looking at the 8 from the rear side back to front the other two don't come close to that view. Awesome the way the car sets up from that angle.

 

Yall need to get creative--if it can be done in an FD it definately can be done in an RX8--oh wait you said comfortably :p
