Subaru STI
Lexus IS300

Well since you're asking on an RX-8 board most will say RX-8. That's what I would choose only because I feel it is the most rounded choice of them.

I'm also VERY partial to the IS300 as far as comfort/daily driver is concerned. It just needs some more ponies under the hood. Now an IS300 with a 2jz-gte under the hood, I'd sell my car and probably my left nut for one of those bad boys.

 

Subaru STI (utility and performance)

 

RX-8 beating out the STi by a hair.

Love the STi for it's performance, but the looks kill it for me.

Reasons for my choice:
Z4 = 2-seater
350Z = 2-seater
STi = looks
IS300 = overrated (IMO) and for lack of performance

What about an Evo? Similiar performance to the STi and the looks are more pleasent.

in case n e of u guys r wondering, i'm planning on getting a new car this Oct, so thats y i'm seeking advise.....and glxyjones, thanks for the comment, but i do WANT a 2 seater...hehe i have the IS300 right now, but don't really like the looks of it....if i keep it i'll have 2 do soem work on it and the power isn't that good but not bad of course

 

well i feel alot of us did most likely look at thsoe cars as options when we purchased our cars but here is my reasons for chosing the rx8

z4 - 3.0 out of price range and personally if i buy a car i want the best engine available with the car.
350z - just too popular and no back seats
STI- just not aesthically pleasing for 35K i want something a lil more exquisite
IS300 - Blah jsut didnt catch my attention, nothing in it that yells pick me

i also did looked at
Evo - even hada deposit on one but the rx8 looked alot better
330ci - BMW can kiss my Azz if they think im pying 40K for a car w/o options
A4 - i didnt like the new body style

ohhh yea....forgot, i'm from Canada, so we don't even have the Evo here....lol:p

 

well all the cars i've stated are in my price range so price isn't the prob right now, i'm currently driving the IS300, i can keep the car so i have 2 buy back or get a brand new car, all those cars r my top choices....hehe

i was told this by a mitsu dealer when i was visting canada last summer. the evo wont pass emmision standards for frontal crash tests because of the FMIC.

Not sure but the US also has the 5 mile per hour crash test I don't see how Canada is any more trick than us. The USDM Evo and JDM evo has different bumper where the USDM if fitted with a low speed crash bumper.

since no evo in canada, definately the RX-8! maybe the STi as the third and last option...

 

RX-8. Sti is fast and all, but I already have that. The 8 is damn good looking and fun to drive.

 

if ya want a 2 seater, why not consider an S2000?

 

back on topic, if i could have any car. i'd get the z4 and sell it, then buy an 8 and keep the profits :p

 

Get the new G35 coupe. or 350z. At least that's what I'd do IF I didn't have a choice of the RX-8.

Oh wait, I already own a G35 Sedan... :P Ok, I'll take the 350z to finish the collection.
